My old Gamebox.net email is defunct.  The provider evidently went out of business.  I now have email at gmail.com.  I am not including it here because of the preponderance of spam that seems to cling to Asstr despite impressive efforts to keep it to a minimum.  If you want my email address, just send a request via the forum.  The forum has a nifty human-detector that filters out most robotic attempts at using it.

A quick Question though when is she going to copy the book since the one she is reading is about to fall apart can she make the headmaster do it? Will she make herself a copy along with all the other books?

She has so much to do, and so little time, but I suspect that eventually she will get to it, even if she has to come back after her first school year to do it.

Second sentence of paragraph below. Use of "also" at the beginning and "as well" at the end of a sentence is redundant. In my opinion the sentence is fine without either, but you can use just one if you like.

"Do not feel as if you are a failure. Because you have been touched by Mortaebius your fear spell is exceptional. I also recommend you become more familiar with the line of fear spells in my book to increase your insight as well. The next one to learn is Scared Stiff, a spell that duplicates the phenomenon caused by the scratch of a ghoul. It is a very handy spell. Your victim stays put so that you can follow up with spells that lack a ranged component. Other fear spells make the victim run madly about so that you are forced to follow up with ranged magic. I believe you will find the ranged version of Scared Stiff to be a highly useful spell. Are there any other questions you have? I have not noticed you being this nervous about setbacks in magic in the past. Is there something troubling you?

Only problem found is that it was not very clear what illusion spells Rapina used to disguise her body before she remembered how to transform it.
Now I am curious about what will happen to make she get out of her current disguise. If it was real life she would probably end up making Charles and his father into enemies ... unless she fakes her death and finds a way to blame Avengene, or something like this.
If she simply has a talk with the man that thinks that he is her brother and he understands easily that she had to disguise herself as his sister, I will find it very weird (to say the least).

I think I fixed this somewhat during editing so that you are able to see that the illusions are in the same illusionist's book as the shape-shift spells.  The illusions are the more elementary spells that lead ultimately to an actual change in form.

Typo in chpt 67, "stay" should be "stray" in the paragraph below:

The first morning that she used the Tone Hair spell it was a disappointment. She successfully got the substance of her hair to become open to change but instead of changing it to red as she had planned, a stay thought caused her to revert it to its original raven black, roots and all. The spell was definitely going to need more work but she had to attend to the day's classes before she could get back to it.

So Ends the Rapina Feedback Forum for now.  Unfortunately the age of this site is catching up with me.  My gamebox email died.  Evidently the provider went out of business.  I had a bit of an altercation with case sensitivity and my Asstr password but I worked it out and changed the forum settings.  The forum now sends to my gmail address.  Out with the old, in with the new!  

I sent two new chapters (Understudy & Man in Rags) to Graylore shortly before the gamebox email died.  I did not hear back from him, and not long after that he could not have sent me mail at that address anyway since it went down.  

If you read this Graylore, I sent you an email from my gmail address to yours to see if I could get hold of you.  If for any reason you did not receive it, just send me a forum post and I'll send it again.

Read the novel the first time about year and half ago, since then i am waiting for the installments. In fact at one time I had written a small script to check this site automatically for updates and notify me if something happen. But U have kept us (all the readers) in suspense for quite some time. this has gone on long enough. I'm afraid I can't take it anymore: more then nine months without any new story? My kid's even didn't take that long before they came out into the world.
Could you please do it the same way as the other story and simply post your "draft", we (your readers) will simply tell you as we go along if there are any mistakes. Besides, don't be so hard on yourself, your previous "raw" chapter wasn't full of mistakes either.
Please post the two new installments as soon as you can.

I only wish we did not have to wait about 5 months for a forum update, and 9 months or so for a new chapter. Having said that, your writing is wonderful and a true joy to read. comments = Yay for chapter! I was starting to get worried that there might never be another update and I must say it made me very very very sad.
I have been reading for about 4 years and this is definitely my favorite online story that I follow, I get so happy when there is an update that I will stay up till all hours of the night just to read it. I think I have reread the entire story at least 3 times (definitely more for my favorite parts/chapters/storylines) I've also recommended it to a friend or two who also absolutely adore it.

I may be a bit pushy here, but when can we expect another update? I don't know if I can wait another 6-10 months, seriously I might just die of a broken heart.

anyways, thanks for all your hard work, can't wait for the next lengthy chapter of joy. I usually end up checking about once a week if not more as it is just sitting there in my short bookmark list of good stories.

P.S. at one time you told us to say/do something if we didn't want a message published. I can't remember what it was(could you refresh my memory?) 

Bellany's being able to compete in the rapier tournament *was* a little far fetched, almost as if someone powerful had made it happen.  Ordinarily Headmistress Vargrend would have stopped the idea of a young woman competing in a tournament in its tracks.  Yet the last time she slighted the Jordells she got a huge chunk taken out of her operating budget for her trouble.  You can assume that she swallowed her tongue as she just did not want to know what the Jordells might have done if she had slighted them again.  It is true that James got sick at an awfully convenient time and he got well rather quickly after the tournament.  Perhaps he thought that it would be fun to have Bellany compete.  Otherwise James would have had to fight the same man twice.

Since everything is manually posted, usually just saying not to post a part or the whole of your message will do the trick.  If you include an email address in your post I will xxx it out even if you don't ask.  There are far too  many bots trolling the net looking for a place to send spam.  -Rapina

I must say altough Rapina is part of the conventional fantasy genre I have many times found the plot delightfully hard to predict. Here some of my impressions of the current situation in case you're intrested.

I wonder if James already suspects Bellany is not all that she seems, but won't confront her, because it would make things more boring. Rapina has ocassionally had some minor slips in her role as Bellany and as said James has an eye for subtlety.

Mary and Abraham seem to be in the corruption in progress category. You have a peculiar way of describing the angst of conflicting morals in a fast paced carefree way. One might give more depth to these characters by exploring these feelings more deeply, but don't take this as a critisism. Your style suits your story well.

Bianca and Glenda are a question mark to me at this point, their complete turn about has left me in the dark as to what their true instentions at the moment might be. Though somehow I douth Bianca has just given up completely.

Charles is a kind of contradictory character and one I think should be paid more attention to. Clear view into his psyche would deepen him and that could become crucial especially if he ever learns the truth about Bellany's true identity. 

There is also a minor inconsistency I noticed.

Men's fear is what nourishes Alistair most.
Baladus:
"That is my love, Alistair Vargrend. He is resting now."
"Does he feed on the fear of the schoolgirls?"
"No, he is moved by pain and powerlessness. ..."

First, I was glad to see Understudy appear. You've been editing that for a long time -- I guess Real Life (tm) interferes with other important stuff sometimes, eh? :) I'm hoping you will have some sort of year's end present for us, one or more of the other chapters that's nearly done...

Second, you still include your gamebox email on the entrance page (http://www.asstr-mirror.org/files/Authors/rapina/www/stories.html) and might want to fix that to say "use the Rapina Feedback Forum".

Third, should you feel the need to take a hiatus from recounting the tails (whoops, "tales"!) of Rapina, please let us know. Your efforts have been appreciated, although I bet it sometimes doesn't seem like that's true.

One of the greatest things with christmas gifts is anticipation. And I have really anticipated this chapter. And you have not disappointed. This chapter was 100% action. Great! You left some hints that had me suspecting either Leland of Herrington for being responsible for the man in rags. But I was never really sure. And I could never have guessed the way it played.

You might want to double check the copy of the new chapter you posted today. I noticed that it repeated itself about halfway through, and therefore, is repeated twice (which made me disappointed with finding the end of the chapter earlier than expected, but oh well, hopefully the next chapter comes quicker).

Ok you've defused the landmine in Bristol, and you've even reconsecrated Biannca. The Brianna/Brunhilde reaproachment seems minamalist, and perhaps even too tentative. Couldn't she be trusted more?

My apologies for letting Rapina languish for so long.  Anyone who wrote in during the long dry spell pat yourself on the back.  You kept the story alive.

Real life sometimes gets in the way and this has been a fun period for real life -cough-.  This ends the 2008 forum.  Now I need to get the 2009 posts put up on the next page.
