This is one of Puppy's Stories.
The following is the transcript and notes from a session of experimental psychological therapy. The novel element in this session was the administration of Deluzorin-A, a compound discovered and published recently in the medical literature and the subject of much controversy. In this transcript I have attempted to remain impartial and allow the effects and outcome to speak for themselves. I have at included, as commentary, some observations that I made during the session. During the course of the session I attempted to not influence the actions of the participants, but neither did I discourage their actions in the case where they would cause no physical harm to themselves.

Researcher: "John, you are the first subject. Please state your name and age to the camera, and describe your relationship to the other participants."
John: "My name is John [ed: all names are anonymized in this transcription], and I am 34 years old. Victoria, or Vicky, is my girlfriend of several years. Natasha is her daughter, and, you could say, my stepdaughter.
Researcher: "John, how would you describe your relationship with the other subjects?"
John: "Vicky and I get along pretty well. We have a good relationship. With Natasha and I there have been some... difficulties."
Researcher: "Next subject."
Victoria: "My name is Victoria. I am 38 years old. I am John's partner and Natasha's mother. I have a fairly good relationship with John and my daughter. I agreed to participate in your session here today because they do not get along well at all, and I want to live in a household where there is harmony."
Researcher: "Thank you Victoria. Next subject please."
Natasha: "I'm Natasha, I'm 19 years old and you know my relationship with them. It's true that sometimes John creeps me out. I mean, it's not like he's my dad or anything, but he acts like I'm some kind of kid."
Researcher: "Each of you has given your consent to try our experimental therapy today, and agreed that the results will be recorded for research purposes. On the table in front of you, you will find a small cup containing the substance we are testing. This test is double-blind, so neither I nor you know whether it actually contains an active ingredient, or a placebo. Please drink it now."
(Each subject drinks the small dose of Deluzorin-A solution they are provided.)
Researcher: "In the case were you did not receive a placebo, the expected onset is roughly 10 to 15 minutes. While we are waiting, could you speak into the camera any other details about your lives that you feel may be pertinent to our therapy today."
(John and Victoria speak about their previous relationships. Natasha talks about her social situation, as a freshman at the local college. Victoria mentions that Natasha has had difficulty with her schoolwork because of social and emotional distractions, but does not describe what they are. John talks about his job, but the other two subjects appear to not be interested.)
T+12 minutes.
Natasha: "I'm feeling a little funny."
Victoria: (pause) "Me too."
Researcher: "Could you describe how you feel?"
Victoria: "Very relaxed. A little bit like being drunk." (slowly) "Wow." (giggles) "This isn't a placebo."
Researcher: "John, how do you feel?"
John: "I would say... relaxed. Yeah."
Researcher: "Natasha, how do you feel?"
Natasha: "I think John is attracted to me!"
(All of the subjects are quiet for a long moment.)
Researcher: "Natasha, could you describe what you mean?"

Victoria: "Well that would explain it. You two are always so hostile and avoiding each other. Now I see what the tension was about. John, is it true, are you attracted to her?"

Researcher: "Natasha, how do you feel about this?"
