Re the recent discussion on ASSD about reviewers:
I must be doing something right, because no one's complaining about me.
I agree totally with the list of reviewer's golden rules (whoever posted them send them to me, so I can put them up on my site, if you're willing to publicize them.) I myself sometimes let personal viewpoint creep into my reviews; but as my main judging criteria is how well the author writes, it has only a minimal impact on the final grade.
I also agree that this is the Golden Age of Porn. Where else can you find so much, for little, and for every sexual fetish and persuasion as well? I would also like to remind everyone, again, that ASS contains only a small fraction of the sexual fantasy available on the net. There are tons of fanfic and slash erotica; gay and lesbian stories and sites; and archives devoting to fetishes like robot sex and breast growth stories, many of which never see the newsgroups...not to mention all the BDSM home pages that are springing up like mushrooms after the rain. Enjoy it while it lasts, because I have the feeling it won't last forever.

A sultan of an unnamed middle eastern country employs a harem of concubines and slave girls, one of whom accidentally spills oil on the floor. When the sultan's general slips on it and breaks his leg, the sultan hits the roof. He orders all his slaves whipped, his concubines to watch, and the offending slave to be locked in a parakeet-cage like device lined with spikes so everyone, from her comrades to the sultan's court, can torture her. Not a nice guy.
This story wasn't so much sex story as historical tract, but it was well written and interesting, with an Arabian Nights feel. Not as "sexy" as a lot of BDSM I've read, but then sexiness lies in the gonads of the reader.

This very harsh spanking story has been praised for its realism and writing technique, and deservedly so; however, it was *not* a feelgood story, and not one I'd care to read again. There was a real nastiness at work here far more cruel than any whips n' chains story I've read, and it was all the more disturbing because it seemed to be unconscious on the part of the author. The narrator, a grown man attending a family reunion, thinks back to his youth in a rather dysfunctional family where the strap was the favored method of punishment. He and his younger sister plot revenge on Dorothy, the goody-goody middle daughter of the family, for always tattling on them. Dorothy is shy and given to writing and solitary pursuits; she blooms one summer when she takes tennis lessons and finds a boyfriend. Naturally, Dad is suspicious of all this (god forbid one of his kids should find happiness) and when the narrator reads some steamy, but cornball, sexual escapades in Dorothy's diary he loses no time in telling him. Dad confronts Dorothy one day, tells her to strip, and you can imagine the results:
The poor girl winds up a recluse and traumatized for life, while the
narrator smirks, "Maybe I had done Dorothy the fledgling novelist
a favor: Thanks to me she had a terrific story to tell." The cruelty
is, none of the sex ever happened; Dorothy was merely practicing
her writing skills and venting some fantasies.
She cried out the words that would stamp this evening in
my brain forever: "NOT THERE! NOT THERE, OH PLEASE, DADDY,
NOT THERE!"
"You won't be using this for whoring any time soon," Dad
said.
Another crack, another scream, and soon the call and
response of punishment filled the house with it's horrific
rhythm.
Overall, entertaining because of the author's skill, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

This novella-length story may just receive a 1998 Cyrrheal Award for Best Dungeons and Dragons sex. Wulf, a muscle-bound, honorable, but not too bright warrior, has been changed into a lion-man and sold as a slave to Xylara, a decadent albino who is a total sex fiend. Her preferred method of doinking is to watch Wulf doink her slaves while imagining the act happening to herself, for she's been forbidden by her noble family to have sex with a man under threat of disinheritance. The punishment is the result of a long story of power and intrigue, which Xylara narrates herself, and in it we meet her even more decadent sister Nineh; Parval, a lover who betrays her; and Alrynna, Xylara's eagerly submissive slave. The narrator eventually foils a plot to murder his mistress and all is eventually made well, with Xylara receiving her birthright and Wulf transformed back into his normal human shape.
This was a long piece, which is why I reviewed it rather late; but it is well worth tracking down. The sex was hot, and there was a lot of it. Sort of a combination of the more exotic aspects of Jack Vance's and Tanith Lee's work crossed with Phillip Jurado, Japanese anime fanfic, and BDSM, about which the narrator (and by extension the author) says: "I have never denied enjoying sex, but I've only wanted it with willing partners. The notion of inflicting pain during sex, or even pretending that it wasn't voluntary had always been somewhat alien to me. " However, I believe he is not as anti-BDSM as he makes himself out to be, as the aforementioned involuntary scenes were quite juicy. In the end, however, the decadent characters realize the errors of their ways and free their slaves, making their sexual participation voluntary rather than forced, and this moral arrangement seems to satisfy the author's need for titillation that is naughty yet PC...an interesting use of the good/evil aspects of BDSM similar to SF Master's "Janet in Training" which came out earlier this year.

After a dinner party two couples agree to act out their private fantasies...a woman's in the first, a man's in the second, and this short story smoothly swapped back and forth between the two. The first involves a pretend abduction, hog-tying and paddle-spank; the second a woman's massage and a man's dildo impalement. The story ended with an unexpected revelation before either act was complete.
I question the man's interest in exploring his "female" side by being buggered by a dildo...I'd think it's actually more of a homosexual wish. Transexuality has traditionally been the avenue for men to feel "feminine," whether or not there's sex involved. But overall this was a nice story, and a good read, preferably together, for couples.
Nothing new to add for this week...I've been reading stories like a

This story crossed genres: cybersex, Native American lore, and cautionary tale. And it purports to be true. What else can you ask for?
Like Maryanne Mohanraj's "Jinsong" the story is told from transcripts of cybersex adventures. "Mike," a 34-year-old divorced man, meets a woman online named "Raven Hair" who purports to be a female shaman in training. They have discussions about Native American spirituality and sex ("We think enough about hurting the Earth, we don't think that our pleasures are good for her. This is deep wisdom from the Spirit. Smelling a flower, tasting a good meal, and enjoying deep and ecstatic sex are pleasures that make Her happy.") The two then have deep and ecstatic cybersex. Much later, Mike finds out to his alarm that the beautiful young shamaness was a phony; in reality "she" is a 50-year-old man. The realization triggers a nervous breakdown.
Whether true or fabrication, or some mixture of the two, the story was very interesting. It wasn't as polished as the Mohanraj tale but I liked it better for the ironies it exposes: they made the story into an examination of the human desire to *believe* in the sacredness of the sex act rather than being a mundane depiction of a New Age stroke session. The Mohanraj tale, by contrast, could be a plot of a "Party of Five" episode.
I guess the final axiom would be: Don't EVER take anyone at face value in cyberspace.

Celebrity sex stories are usually about beautiful, unavailable, famous women treated as either sluts or conquests: Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Lee Curtis, The Spice Girls. Something of a male revenge here, I suspect. I haven't seen a male celebrity sex story yet, save for this one about the cute little Hanson brothers from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sacrilege! I fully expected this to be kidporn, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it well-written, fun, romantic, intelligent, AND charming.
The story takes place on the road with a pop group, like the Spice Girls stories, but differs in that it's told by a fourteen-year-old teenager, the lover of Taylor, the middle Hanson brother. The two carry a torch for each other, so when the Hansons come to the UK on tour the narrator is sent for to accompany them. There's pizza, rollerblading, shopping in the mall, and hanging out; there's also sex in the trailer in which younger brother Zach joins in, declarations of love, and moments of tenderness. Later it turns out all three Hansons are gay (what are the statistical odds of that happening?) with sourpuss older brother Ike finally confessing his love for a young lighting tech, who the narrator rescues with his rock-climbing skills when he falls from a rig and is knocked unconscious. The story is even more interesting because the foreword indicates it was written by a gay teen who is clearly a fan of the group and very familiar with their background, music, and videos. Everyone enjoys himself, no one's uptight about his homosexuality, and the young rock star's parents are completely accepting of all the doinking going on.
Wish-fulfillment, perhaps, but this young man, if he is a young man, writes a helluva lot better than most of the straight adult men and women on the alt.sex hierarchy.

Like the above, this story dealt with romance and the familial repercussions of being gay in contemporary society...more of a domestic fantasy than a sexual one, though there was a lot of sex (they say "I love you" over 50 times.) Kris, the young narrator, has been living with Brad, his lover, for two years, but Brad's parents haven't realized their son is gay and that Kris is not "just" a roomate. When Brad's family invites the two to spend the weekend on their boat, they reluctantly, agree, knowing how hard it will be to keep it a secret. Complicating matters is Chad, Brad's identical twin brother, who has also been asked along, and complicating things further is the freak storm that strikes, washing the boat ashore on a desert isle. (Stop singing the "Gilligan's Island" theme.) The rest of the story deals with the aftermath, the "coming out" of the young couple, and how Brad's parents and twin brother react to this.
It's hard not to like this story even if you don't like gay fiction, because the characters were simply so *nice.* I felt I knew them as neighbors. There was even a touch of sly familial sexual humor running throughout:
"Thanks, Mom," Brad chided, before turning to his father.
Mr. Peterson turned around and adjusted his seat belt. "Why
(No, there's no incest!)
Mr. Peterson turned in his seat and looked Brad up and down as
we climbed into the car. "No wonder those shorts had a hole in
them, son," he said. "They're so tight that they'll split if you
get a boner. Couldn't you find any decent clothes to wear?"
"You shouldn't talk like that in front of Mom, Dad."
not?" he asked. "She knows what a boner is. Hell, if she didn't
enjoy playing with mine, you wouldn't be here."
All in all, a feelgood story with roots in real life.

A man comes home from work expecting to fuck his sexy wife, but he has another thing coming. She knows he's been screwing his secretary, so she handcuffs him to the bed in the middle of the act and confronts him with her knowledge while continuing to tease him sexually. Then she tells him she did the same thing to his secretary. By forcing them both to enjoy their respective rapes, she gets her revenge...and then she walks.
The story was well-written and quite suspenseful, marred only by the cliches of the genre. The wife has long red fingernails, soft full lips, and long legs. Slut material in porn shorthand, yet she's PO'd at the secretary for being a slut. If I wrote the story, I'd make the wife attractive yet average. After all, who cares if a beautiful women gets cheated on in a sex story? She can always go out and fuck someone else. But this is a minor nit, and overall the story deserves its grade.

Shared universe (SU) fiction is a phenomenon that has grown in leaps and bounds since the Net took off. It differs from other net fiction in that a fictional world is created with its own set of physical and social rules, history, and character types, and that world becomes the stage setting for the participant's poems and stories. SU fiction is often serial in nature, one author picking up where another left off, and has its own literary rules and style which can be applied to other genres, such as sex stories. "Darkside USA" is a prime example of SU fiction.
The premise is the USA has fallen into anarchy somehow (shades of "The Road Warrior") and thugs roam the heartland. A gang of them (Wolf, Skull, Red, etc....thugs NEVER have polysyllabic names) invades a farm. Thirteen-year-old Robbie witnesses the death of his father and his mother's and sisters' rapes, which causes his first ejaculation. He flees the house and takes refuge in a cave, but the floor collapses beneath him. Dying, he finds an ancient Native American artifact which promises him great power, and when he touches it he is transformed into a good- looking and extremely well-hung adult man with stupendous physical and mental powers. He returns to the farm, blows away the bad guys, and tenderly fucks his mother and sister with the understanding they are under his protection now. He knocks Mom up, and plans to restore the good ol' U S of A by harnessing his sister Sissy's (how Midwest!) latent mental powers. The story continues for seven more chapters.
This was typical SU stuff...superheroes, psionic powers, and grand themes of love, destruction and redemption. And there's sex. Not the coy sex you find on the shared universe story newsgroup ("her nipples became twin peaks of delight") but gobs of rape, forced lesbian encounters, mind-controlled incest, and female subjugation. The style was a little stiff in places, and it was all hard to take seriously...but all in all, an entertaining, reader- pleasing read, if that reader likes "The Crow" and Fox channel weekend fare.

I don't like stories written in second person voice, but I made allowances for this one, because I found the sex hot. A man and woman flirt at a party, but she's only cockteasing. She leaves her scarf behind and comes back the next day to pick it up. The man then involves her in a heated BDSM encounter, which he describes by telling us what he does to her, in the present tense. The narrator went from overwrought ("I'm going to do things to you, you will never forget. You can't escape this, any more than I can. You and I are as one, jaded souls the rest of the world can never understand. I'm going to turn you inside out. I know this is what you want; that this is what you need.") to lecturing ("You know, in the terminology of all this, the one subservient is called a 'bottom', while the dominant person is the 'top'.") and as it turns out the woman planned it all along. She even brought along a change of clothes.
Like most second person stories, it was silly at times, but I did enjoy it, perhaps because of all the nipple-sucking.
I am still trying catch up (pant pant). If I haven't reviewed your

To fill up space before the reviews begin, and in case any of you have tuned in late, these are the newsgroups I cull my reviews from:

Bronze Lust [A-]
Doc Savage, a pulp hero of the 1930s, can be considered the direct
ancestor of today's comic book superheroes. He has a physique
like Superman, the gadget-filled hideouts of Batman, and the
faithful companions of the X-men, who all have animal
companions like...Tarzan! Take all this, and combine it with the
adventures of Indiana Jones, and you'll get a good idea of how fun
the pulp magazines were fifty years ago.
This story, however, focuses on knockout Pat Savage, Doc's
cousin, who is a neo-Aryan female version of himself, and the
story veered off into superheroine territory. Pat is a rabid sex
maniac, happily fucking Doc's sidekicks, her employee in the
beauty salon she runs as a cover, and herself (in a shower) and
it's pretty clear the writer is enthralled with her powerful
athleticism and sexual skills the same way Batgirl story writers
are enthralled with Batgirl. The story eventually gets going as
Pat witnesses a kidnapping and chases after the criminals first in
a car, then a helicopter. She tracks them to their hideout and
lands in a fight, but is overpowered and captured by the bad guys.
(In the course of all this she also acquires a really cute pussy, and
there's a cute post-coital winsomeness there as well. )
The story was less of pulp homage than I thought it would be--the
1930s stage dressing was very slim--but on the other hand, there
was a lot of sex. This ultimately hurt the story rather than helped
it, for it took a long time for the plot to get rolling as we ooze from
one long encounter to another. For a long piece of fiction, like a
novelette, it's better to space the sexual encounters and keep
them short to give equal time to the plot, as 50,000 words of
nothing but sex can get tedious very quickly. There's only so
many ways to do it. But overall the writing was excellent and the
characters interesting (though I suspect they'd appeal more to
men). If you like old-fashioned pulp adventures or superheroine
stories, you'll like this.
This story was more of a story about sex and sexual situations
rather than a sex story--that is, a story engineered primarily to
get you horny. Short, but a real gem. It starts off as the narrator
and his troops invade a rebel village in an unnamed South
American country. They take advantage of the women, and the
narrator commandeers one young peasant girl to be his
"sweetheart," the word a nice touch that lets us know we're
dealing with another culture. After all, an American would just
say "whore." The soldiers occupy the village and the officer uses
his teenage sweetheart every night with neither regret or
brutality, but with a detached, yet somehow touching,
practicalness. Until the day the troops have to withdrawal. The
ending is a real shocker, worthy of the finest short fiction out
there.
This story was #32 in a series featuring sex with hypnotized
female celebrities, most of whom I've never heard of because I
read People magazine only at the dentist. The author apparently
got his or her information about female celebrities from People
magazine, too, for the celebrities act exactly the way we expect
them to. Drew Barrymore is out of rehab, but still parties and
drives recklessly; that earns her a ticket from a policeman who
hypnotizes her. Later, he comes back to her apartment and
screws her using a post-hypnotic suggestion.
Like many mc stories, the non-consensuality of the situation gets
more emphasis than the sex act itself. I couldn't help wondering
why this author switched from writing amusing TV-based mc
fantasies to write these ones, which are considerably less
amusing and interesting, and show a certain lack of imagination
as well. But then, I'm not too interested in celebrities, or Drew
Barrymore (or for that matter ET the extra-terrestrial) though
someone who likes either would probably like this.
I like Andrew Roller. He upholds American ideals close to my
heart: free speech, guilt-free sex, and the exposure of hypocrisy.
He's also been putting out his sex e-zine (email magazine) for
over a year now, ever since I've been reading the alt.sex
hierarchy, and each "issue" delivers his opinions on a variety of
subjects and includes a snippet of sex story and a review of some
kind--usually the latest girlie mags or videos--which are,
intentionally or not, hilarious. The effect is of a never-empty
cornucopia of porn, a world's fair of sex. And every other week a
new issue appears in your electronic mailbox.
"Naughty Naked Dreamgirls" doesn't really do the serials justice,
for they're a lot more intelligent than they sound. Still porn,
though, in a charming, old-fashioned way...young men and
women getting together to explore their sexual desires without
the rituals of romance or coercion getting in the way, in the
background settings of the rich and famous...exotic locales,
mansions, beaches. They often include mild D/S and B/D. Oddly
enough, all the narrators I've seen have been female, and Andy
is a man. Maybe he's envious of the female capacity for unlimited
sex?
Anyway, ignore the sensationalistic titles and give the
Dreamgirls a try. Not deep, but it hits the right spot.
I've long said that slash fiction is a viable alternative to
conventional sex stories, and this story proves me out, providing
us with not only a hot lesbian threesome, but a bit of BDSM as
well. It also proves slash writing appeals to both genders, but in a
curious way: the author of this F/F story is male, as almost all the
authors of M/M pairings are female.
The story is set in the Star Trek: Voyager world and concerns
Captain Janeway, B'elanna Torres, and 7 of 9--in slash shorthand,
J/T/7. The story follows the plot structure of the TV show pretty
closely in that there's a major thread and a minor one: for the
major, 7 of 9 is beginning to experience erotic urges in her
human body and utilizes the holodeck to explore her feelings,
while the minor concerns a special dinner the established lovers
Janeway and Torres share. The two threads coincide when 7 of 9
bursts into their room worked up over a lesbian dungeon
program, pulls open her doubleknit jumpsuit, and announces: "I
have been a very bad girl. I should be spanked." Guess what
follows.
Fun to read, faithful to the show, and adhering to the high
literary standards of slash fandom.
What a great development! I hope more writers share their
opinions. Writers give feedback reviewers don't. Many times I
want to go more into detail about a certain story, saying why I
liked it or didn't like it, but as a reviewer I have to maintain a
certain neutrality. My reader's opinions don't matter, but my
technical ones do: that is, saying if something is well-written or
not, and whether or not the story does the job it sets out to do. It's
also part of my job to give a brief summarization so readers can
tell if it's something they would be interested in reading
themselves, and when you add these all up, I'm often strapped for
space. I hope more authors answer the challenge.
It's always tricky rating only the first few chapters of something,
especially if it's before the main action hasn't started yet. Some
stories never live up to their promise, while others keep
repeating themselves ad infinitum.
That said, this was an interesting ponygirl fantasy. The
narrator...I *think* it's a man...applies for a stablekeeping job.
He meets his new employer in a restaurant and is told the
"ponies" are women who are into sexual role-playing. The
stablemaster even has a website, where prospective ponygirl
buyers can call up pictures of the goods and receive certificates
of ownership. Does a site like this really exist somewhere? I
wonder...
Although this is just the beginning, the story has a lot going for
it...the tone is literate and engaging, the tension and revelations
are nicely handled, and there's a fertile imagination at work in
the detailing of the web site. If you've ever wanted a tattooed
ponygirl of your own (the registration numbers are imprinted
on the thigh and inside the upper lip) check this out.
A nameless guy punishes the narrator of this story by taking her
down to the barn, where he spread-eagles her, sticks a vibrating
butt plug in her anus, and then gives her enema, all of which is
designed to get her behaving "like the perfect submissive slut."
That sums the story up.
There wasn't much to enthuse about in this story, which read like
something popped off in five minutes for an adult BBS. There was
no real plot, no buildup of tension, and the descriptions of the sex
acts were perfunctory and tepid. It's been done before, and done
better. However, it was short, so probably wouldn't count as a
major waste of your time if you decide to read it. And it taught me
a new slang word for anus: "crinkle."
Literary erotica is a rare bird in the ASS newsgroups. I had the
feeling this author tried very hard to write an uplifting,
meaningful and sexy piece of erotica that would like to hang out
on the desk of a New York editor of a major publishing house. By
ASS standards, it's pretty good. By New York editor ones, though,
it's a formless retread.
The story is told through the impressions of an older woman
watching the sunset, thinking about the three multinational
lovers she has known. The language was handled well, and waxed
poetic in parts. However, I found myself skimming over the sex
sections. Why? When you've read over 300 sex stories, the act gets
pretty old unless it's presented in a new or especially
entertaining way, or the story's plot or characters involve you to
the point where you eagerly read their sexual adventures as well.
This story did neither, though, as I said, it was well written; but I
really wanted a plot.
If you're not too picky about your literary erotica, you will like
this.
Golf and an intergenerational lesbian affair feature in this story,
which had a believable, interesting plot *and* lively, intelligent
characterization. A group of older women...mainly upper middle
class stay-at-home wives...meets regularly to play golf, and on
one outing one of the women brings her college-age daughter
Toni along. Toni is a snot, but she develops a rapport with Fran,
the narrator, who is the only one of group to have a career (she's
a professor.) It starts to rain on the course, and the two seek
shelter in the golf cart, where they have sex. Later they return to
the clubhouse to join Toni's mom Elena in the spa where she's
waiting for a massage. Fran obliges her in more ways than
one...bringing both mother and daughter to orgasm in a single
afternoon.
Realistic, with believable characters and situations. Read it even
if you don't like golf.
Historical sex stories are rare in the ASS hierarchy, though they
do pop up from time to time. This one was set in 19th century New
Orleans. The narrator is a young male whore who dresses as a girl
to lure unsuspecting men to be gang-raped by his compatriots.
They do a number on one guy, but victim returns later to get his
revenge on the narrator, and the biter becomes the bitten. This
*was* mainly a rape/torture story (and be warned) but the
genteel tone made it less squicky than others of its genre; in fact,
it almost read like a fine, literary translation from another
language. Frankly detailed, but not crass. You don't have to be
embarrassed about reading it.
You can often judge a story by its title. This story is such a case.
It's an uncreative, insipid title, and this was an uncreative,
insipid story. Written in second person "You know this is a very
special night" voice, the narrator describes a room with a "feeling
of serenity and peace" and tells the unnamed male "You find
yourself drawn to the color crimson that the bed has been
dawned in." Uh, excuse me? Later there is a "there is a monstrous
storm about to take part" with a "flask of lighting." At this point
the narrator appears in a white baby doll nightie, caresses the
mysterious "you" a bit, and sucks his cock.
Harlequin romance novel fans might like this, but I don't think
anyone else would.
I thought it would be hard to top the silliness factor of the
preceding story, but this one passes it easily. Lori, a young
woman with pubic hair up to her waist (!!) submits to a shave
from her lover. As she muses about all the joy her thatch of thick
black curls has brought her ("Lori had always been proud of her
hair and took extra pains to regularly shampoo and condition it;
even giving it an occasional hot oil treatment" "She remembered
how she had vowed to celebrate each new hair by repeating her
masturbatory discovery.") it's shaved off, bit by bit, causing her
equal mixtures of nostalgia and distress. Come on. Does anyone
really give a shit about their pubic hair, except that it doesn't get
too grungy?
Maybe someone who's into pubic hair would like this, I don't
know.
I am still trying catch up with all the stories I've received. I
am falling behind and may have to skip some. If I haven't
reviewed your story, be patient.
Going Away Party [A]
Parker is the author of about a dozen female rape/sex slave
stories, all well and stylishly written. It's hard for the rational
mind to explain the appeal of these stories. Obviously, no
woman wants to be brutalized and exploited like the women in
the stories are, but there's a certain thrill involved in reading about it,
imagining yourself as the unwilling victim or casting
yourself in the role of observer. I believe it's the same desire
that drives little girls to mutilate their Barbie dolls and cut off
their hair: a nasty truth, but one no less real.
In this story, the hapless victim is a young, hotshot lawyer
who has recommended that a "punker" secretary in her firm
be fired. Believing that her role in the dismissal is a secret,
she attends the secretary's going away party, which is held in
a sleazy bar. She's drugged and strapped to a table, and the
usual ensures: kinky clothes, piercings, enemas, sexual
teasing. In the end the vengeful secretary leads her to a
mirror where she can look at her new self:
I wonder if Parker is a man or women. If he's a man, he isn't
the only one that would like to switch places with a woman in
the sexual act.
A young medic joins a platoon of tough Marines and
struggles to find his place, playing those one-up and
dominance games that men do in nearly every situation in
which they have to work together. Finally he's accepted, but
in the course of it injures another Marine with his aikido in
hand-to-hand combat training. Seeking to make amends, he
takes the guy into town for a Jacuzzi session. In the shower,
the two have sex, then comes a spanking session in which the
presumptuous medical officer is shown his place. The tone was
congenial, the sex loving and sensual, with the narrator
describing his lover's body in half poetic, half medical terms:
"Gently, gently but ever so thoroughly I traced every
millimeter of the vas deferens from where it left the body
cavity to coil down behind the loose walls of the scrotum to
twist across the tops of the heavy testicles."
If you read this, prepare to get out your handkerchiefs,
because the ending is sad. I did.
A British prime minister goes to South Africa to sign a
contract with a Yoruban chieftain. His translator, a stunning
woman named Renata, announces that the chieftain wants to
cinch the deal in the traditional Yoruban way, which is to
share with the partner the possession he prizes the most.
Which is Renata. But first it's time for a coffee break in which
Renata plucks out her tit: "A spray of virginal white milk
erupted from her engorged nipple, exploding into the dark
coffee like a brilliant firework on a pitch black night,
swirling into a spiraling trail as it mixed darkness with
light." This is truly amazing as it's never said she's recently
borne a child. Sex then follows, oral, anal, and three-way. In
the end we find out why Renata was so accommodating.
I really liked the idea of this story; it was smart and funny,
and had a moderately unusual, well-described sex act (that
coffee with cream.) But I can't rate it higher than I did
because of the overwritten nature of the prose, which
eventually descended into sheer silliness. It's very easy to
write a hot sex scene, but very hard to write a coherent,
fulfilling story around it...and as sex scenes are a dime a dozen
with nothing much to distinguish between them besides
literary skill (after all, we all know how to do it) it's careful
attention to conception, plot, style, and character that make a
story truly great.
But that said, this was an unusual story that stood out from the
rest, if only for its British colonial underpinnings, and worth
a look.
In a plot similar to Taria's "Please Watch the Closing Doors" a
woman riding on a bus is attracted to a teenage gangsta. (Is
this the start of a new subgenre, gangsta sex?) The two share
eye contact and smiles, which gradually grow more erotic. No
sexual advances occur, but when the narrator reaches her
office, she flees into the ladie's room to finger herself to
orgasm.
This wasn't a quite classifiable as a sex story--the only sex
occurs in the line "I pulled down my waistband and fingered
myself, and shivered when I came suddenly with hardly
any effort"--so I assume it
was meant as erotica, and erotica of a more refined caliber
than the Taria story or even the "single or double?" squirt
story above. As such, it satisfied, and it was short, too. More
authors should discipline themselves to write short pieces. We
reviewers don't have all the time in the world to read, you
know.

This woman looked like something out of some kind of bizarre
porno movie...(she) was wearing a tight, rubber push-up bra,
which made the most of her small, firm breasts. Those breasts
were further pulled upwards by a slender chain which ran
from two small rings in her nipples - RINGS IN HER NIPPLES! -
to a larger ring which hung down from her nose. The chain
was just tight enough to pull slightly on the nipples, and this
caused the woman in the mirror to keep her head facing
submissively downward.
The secretary then tells her:
This is your new career. A
lifetime career...all the time you're here, they'll keep you
bound, gagged and costumed...The fun part is that you'll
constantly be forced to give them sexual pleasure...just like
any other sex toy - fucking, sucking and everything else they
can think of. But you'll never (let you) come."
Taking the "never come" point into account, which is
mentioned several times, the story can be read as a metaphor
for female sexual arousal...a rabid desire that keeps rising and
rising in a never-ending curve, along with the delights of
endless foreplay and hopeless sexual thralldom.
