Alex Robbins: Personal Diary Entry—June 14^th

Managed to get Ashley back to the tent without running into any of the men and having to explain what happened. Very scary and weird day, not really sure what to make of it yet. Wish Kate was here to talk about it.

Got more info from Ashley after we got back to the tent and she calmed down a bit—I can understand why she is so upset and scared. I am a more than a bit upset and scared myself. Didn’t think I was signing up for this kind of stuff when Kate and I got on board with the Foundation—certainly didn’t think Ash would get caught up in it.

Maybe if I write it out, it will make some kind of sense… according to Ash, this Meh-Mem-Sut (whom she has taken to calling Mimi for some reason—I guess the name is easier to say and it makes things feel... safer and more familiar?) has been around for a long time. Was trapped here somehow during ancient times, not exactly sure when other than the pharaohs were still around, Ash couldn’t give me any idea of the timing—but judging from the state of the ruins and other references probably Middle Kingdom period.

Judging from Ash’s comments, this Mimi is non-corporeal by nature but able to take a physical form—but her ability to do this appears to be tied to some link that she must form with a human—in this case, Ashley.

What I do know, at this point, is that her physical form IS very real and seems to be largely human, but, as a minimum, physically stronger. She does not appear to need to eat or drink—there was something about deriving strength from the emotions of and... gifts…  from her believers. I don’t know, as yet, what form these gifts take. A sacrifice of some kind, some ritual behavior... who knows.

This Mimi can obviously affect human emotions and states of mind, as both Ash and I can attest. Not sure how far this power extends. She can also alter small details of the physical world, again based upon my personal observation. She—Mimi—says that she can do more than that, but is limited in strength right now because of her long isolation here.

Hopefully we will be able to get more info soon, from the creature itself. Ashley is still kind of shaken up so a lot of what she is saying doesn’t make sense.. and there seems to be some stuff she is reluctant to talk about.  Maybe Kate can get more out of her when she gets back from the supply run.

This is the kind of thing that Jerry sent Kate and I out here to find… but I wasn’t really expecting this level of success and, at this point, I am not really sure if I should send word back that we have found something. I trust Jerry… but I am not so sure about his brother or some of the other board members. Need to think about this some more.

Ash is resting at the moment. Gave her a sedative from the medical kit and put her to bed. Experienced some disturbance a while back… apparently some emotional influence or feedback from this Mimi. Not sure of the cause. Ash was a bit agitated and I experienced some effects.. mostly feelings of arousal and lust. Wasn’t nearly as strong as earlier, for some reason.

Waiting for Kate to return—maybe together we can make some sense of this and decide on the next step.
