SOUVIE

Souvie wrote about "Things That Go Bump In The Night." What? No, not ghosties and ghoulies - people! Now her revised webpage is "Under the Covers with Souvie." And she writes in a delightful manner that makes you want to return for more! Definitely one of my favorites. Definitely.

Not only does she write beautiful stories, but her revised Web Site is still one of the most artistic. Her kinks stories are outrageously hot. Best of all, she's a nice person. (Did I mention she's another red-head?)

March 16, 2003 - I'm settling down happily, having caught up on some administrative details in the various websites I maintain, and I finally look over my Top-Ten Favorite Authors List. Added another. Looked at some of the things I've said about these fine folks. Yes, that means reading my own spotlights. And you know what? I get this itching, crawling sensation that some of them I have "damned with faint praise."

Take Souvie, for example. Nowhere in the text above did I mention that she's one of the finest Flashers (that's "Flash-Fiction Writers") I know. Flash fiction is difficult! You have under 1,000 words (and often under 500, or 300) to convey a story. Every sentence has to evoke the thoughts and emotions normally spread over paragraphs or sections of an equivalent short story.

Souvie is one of a short list of writers who can do that, and do it well. I don't think it dilutes a spotlight on Souvie to mention Selena, Alexis, Desdmona, or DrSpin in the company of outstanding Flashers - it tells you the caliber of her ability.

I suppose some form of disclaimer is in order - Souvie has occasionally asked me to supply a line, usually a first line, as inspiration? for a flash story. With my "scents of humor," I've tried to be outrageous or mildly perverse with the lines I've supplied. It hasn't mattered. She has delivered every time. This woman can write!
