The Hole
is the inevitable gay hardcore take on The Ring, although this version has a nice romantic element between the two lead actors, Tag Eriksson and Josh Hammer. These are two guys who, for once, look like they're cute guys instead of oversteroidal slabs of meat that are just two brain cells more intelligent than your friendly neighborhood Cro-Magnon brute. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of the rest of the Cro-Magnon Steroid Posse assembled in this movie.
It all begins with this video that will turn you gay a week after you've watched it. The opening scene has Josh Hammer and the hideously steroidal Derec Lang talking about the movie and how Josh may be turning gay after having watched that video. Next thing he knows, Derec is pulling some strip club dance on Josh to test whether Josh is gay - and just where did the supposedly straight Derec learn how to dance like that, may I ask? - and they end up with Josh flat on his stomach and Derec mechanically pumping away at Josh's cute little butt to the tune of "I am Gay! For Pay! Gimme my money for cocaine! Today!" By the way, I have to respect Josh for getting his penis pierced like that. That makes Derec, with his ugly pierced lips and all, a big pussy at the end of the day.
Thankfully things get better, especially after Josh launches into this cheesy song about how he is a gay stereotype who loves Liza Minelli and Barbra Streisand, all the while pretending very badly to play the guitar. Josh later ropes in Tag, a private investigator, to investigate this video. Tag makes the rounds to interrogate Josh's buddies who have seen the video, which leads to the second big sex scene when Sam Tyson tells Tag how he and buddy Jason Adonis went on a pussy-rampage only to end up with Jason banging away to that charming remix of "I'm a lifeless emotionless pumping gay-for-pay robot" while poor Sam tries to pretend that he is really having a great time. Sam is very nice here as he tries very hard to make the scene work but Jason Adonis has the acting ability of wood while, somewhat sadly, his wood in question is far from impressive in terms of performance and all.
The Hole
also has some gang-bang scenes but they are pretty standard suck-and-fuck events featuring tedious overly-steroidal overly-shaved Ken dolls that don't much for me.
The saving grace of
The Hole
is the enjoyable chemistry between Tag and Josh as these two men exude some startlingly sweet and romantic moments. Their penultimate sex scene is fun and hot to watch because these two men seem more into the act than their counterparts in the sex scenes taking place prior to theirs, especially when both of them happily pop their corks in a pretty impressive manner (compared to the pathetic trickles of the Cro-Magnon brutes populating this movie). Also, Wash West's script has some wry and humorous lines that work without being too corny. Tag and Josh are especially sweet in their love story while Sam and Jason would have been fun too as two straight jocks who ended up in love with each other if Jason Adonis doesn't look like he'll be happier if he can somehow gets his own dick up his own asshole because he looks way more into himself than into his partner. And dang, he looks just like that irritating actor Chris Klein, only it's a more tragic reflection of things when he makes Chris Klein look like a genuine thespian. It's not that I expect great acting from porn actors but dude, at least try to pretend like you're into fucking guys, yo.
Still best a movie most likely to be enjoyed by people who couldn't get enough of the same old American penicillin Falcon gay actor image,
The Hole
nonetheless has enough humor and great moments from Tag Eriksson and Josh Hammer to make this worth watching when there is nothing better to do. It is, I find, a more interesting novelty than a good gay adult film.
