If you haven't guessed yet I'm coming out in this homepage. I am lesbian, I found that I'm neither ashamed nor proud of that fact. It's me and I am what I am. I am happy being lesbian so I'm not interested in changing to something contrary to my nature. Sure, it was hard for me in my early teens being 'different' but I lived through it, I survived, I grew strong from that. Leading into this page are my basic philosophies regarding 'coming out' but this I have done in a culture where, to some extent, lesbianism is "tolerated" by a significant if not overwhelming section of the population. This is not to say we are accepted everywhere or anywhere; this is definitely not the case! But we have our cause out there in and on the political agenda. It is true to say that lesbianism, at 16 in Western Australia it is legal at a younger age that for out gay brothers where the agee of "consent" is 18 years of age! That is, to say 'coming out' here in Australia is somewhat less threatening than in other countries with different cultural atttitudes.
I am now proud: damn it! Very proud and I don't really care who knows now! I am pissed off at having to hide my true self from the world.
Oppression and sex discrimination suck. Fight it with all you have in you.
