Aidan McGill:
his writings.
Background:
These stories are erotic sexual fantasies. They're imaginary, and they're about sex. If you think that using imagination is the same as doing things in the real world, then you and I would both be happier if you went elsewhere and read otherwise.
If you don't like reading about sex, or if it is illegal for you to read about it where you are for any reason, then don't read it.
My writings at this stage are for my own benefit. I'm writing to get practice in writing. I'd appreciate any constructive feedback that would help me become a better writer. Flames will be disregarded - I don't need to spend energy on mindless drivel. After all, you have been warned.
My writings at this stage divide into two groups. One is my "Pastorale" series; the other - isn't.
The "Pastorale" stories are based around Jack Nichols, and more-or-less around his small farm, "Ballindean", in central New South Wales, Australia. They are a device for me to tell different stories without having to re-invent new backgrounds for each. After all, they say you should have as much background unpublished behind each story as you put into it. This is a way for me to economise on the background, so I can get on with telling the story. Think of them as alternate universe stories, although none of them to this point incorporate science fiction or fantasy elements. The stories have more-or-less common background, but they diverge into different world lines at different stages. If the story gets far enough afield then we're no longer dealing with Jack, but with his alter ego, Roy Buchanan, who spent a lot longer in the city, and worked in Information Technology rather than teaching Science and Agriculture. At no stage have I felt it necessary to be hobbled by a foolish consistency from story to story. Settings, or the story teller, could easily slip forty years into the future or past, for instance.
You've heard of stories that are semi-autobiographical? Well, these are maybe 5% autobiographical. Jack is a person I might have been, wish I had been, but I never made it. The background is realistic but not real. Jack Nichols is quite possible. Roy Buchanan is a little closer to the real me, but not much. Other than that, or actual public history, the events and characters depicted are imaginary and bear no intentional resemblance to real events, or to real persons living or dead.
All these early stories are written from first-person point of view. That's just the way it happened. The immediacy of the story as I told it demanded that it be "I" speaking - told as it happened to "me". I'll work on third-party stories later.
Everything is written and spell-checked in English - not to be confused with any of the languages used in the USA. Point of style: when I use a term I know is different in the USA, I often include the US meaning in brackets after it. For instance, flat (apartment); or poker machine (slot machine).
All the stories turned out to be hopelessly romantic. That's just the way I am. Live with it, or not. You have been warned.
