Letter To a Sex Therapist

By

Naomi Darvell <naomi_darvell@hotmail.com>

Q. Dear Dr. D.,
I am 28 years old and have been married about six months now. My husband, "Mark," and I have a good sex life-- I climax regularly-- except for one thing. "Mark" spanks me every time we make love. After brief foreplay (the usual kisses and cuddles) he tells me to turn over, or turns me over himself, and smacks me a dozen times or more on the bare bottom. Then he lifts my hips and enters me from behind.

The spankings hurt. I've asked my husband why he does it, and he says something about how spanking is good for me and makes me obedient. I was obedient to begin with! It embarrasses me so much to think what my friends would say if they knew I was having my bottom spanked more than once a week.

--Sleeping on my Tummy

A. Dear Sleeping,
If, as you imply, your husband has been spanking you only before intercourse, I doubt whether his main goal is to discipline you.  He probably has sexual purposes. Believe it or not, many young women enjoy sex more, and respond better to lovemaking, when they have been spanked. The reason is partly physical: the heat and warmth from the smacking suffuse not only the buttocks but the adjacent genital region too. Also, many men find a spanked backside attractive. "Mark" doubtless enjoys pushing his erect penis in past your warm, blushing bottom cheeks.

You say your sex life is otherwise good. Why risk destroying the balance? I suggest you do a few things to a) minimize the discomfort of spankings and b) try to arrange it so that you come to enjoy them, at least somewhat.

First, ask your husband to put off spanking you until after more extended foreplay. Arousal desensitizes the nerve endings, and the pain will register less. Second, arch your back once you have turned over, and lift the lower, plumper part of your behind so that it takes most of the impact. (Even people who enjoy spanking prefer being slapped there.)

You might also ask him to let you bend over with a bolster or some pillows under your tummy. Spread your legs slightly. This has the double effect of spreading the most spankable area of your bottom so that it (again) takes most of the punishment, and putting pressure on your mons which intensifies with every spank. Alternatively, masturbate in the same position and ask your husband to spank you right through to orgasm.  If your relationship is such that you do not masturbate in front of him, ask a girlfriend to fill in one day.  The main point is to get you to associate spanking with arousal and orgasm, so try, whenever you climax, to imagine that you are being spanked. You may notice that the two sensations are somewhat similar.

Good luck, and please feel free to get back to me with a progress report and/or to ask further questions.

[Note: If anyone would like to write up more questions, I'll be glad to answer them in further installments. N.D.]

I really enjoyed the "Dear Therapist" form of this story.  It felt very real.  I wanted to participate in answering the question as well as benefiting from the advise.  It was visual and for some reason,<EG> stimulating.

Yes, I'm sure Dr. D. would love to hear back from this young woman. LOL Maybe he will use this letter in his upcoming web site for women's health, or his next book for men, or both. :) Not only did this entry make me smile, but it's actually full of very good advice for the vanilla wife, whose husband loves to spank. Unlike anything I've read in the contest, I definitely give this story high marks for originality.
