Summary: In this ALL NEW episode of 'Slash Tv' (the very first special), we visit Southern California and drop in on Hannah Montana and her best friend forever, Lily Truscott (of the Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana). The story begins as Lily and Miley get lost in each other at the school dance. Not realizing that their night of fun will have long lasting ramifications. In the end they must tell everyone about their newly minted love affair, how will they react?

This feels so wonderful Lilly thought to herself. Here she was hugging her best friend Miley Stewart. They had just had a fight over a boy named Jake and ended up covered in food. Fortunately they had made up now. It never took much for the girls to make up after they had a fight. They both kinda liked him, but realised that their friendship was more important. This hug easily made up for all the bad things that had been said and done.
“I guess we did act kinda silly huh?” Miley asked
“Ohh, Yeah” Lilly said and nodded for emphasis.
The two were standing together in the school’s bathroom and were still messy. They were attending a seventies themed dance.
“Here, let me help you” Miley offered.
She took some wet paper and started to clean Lilly up. Miley cleaned the mess up in all the places Lilly couldn’t reach and then Lilly did the same to back. It felt really good for Lilly to have this kind of close contact with Miley. It was a really sweet gesture of Miley to help cleaning up the mess and Lilly really appreciated it.
“I guess you wanna go out and dance with Jake now huh?” Lilly asked.
Her voice clearly betrayed that she didn’t want Miley to do that. Making up with Miley here in the bathroom had been so nice and now she didn’t want to spend the rest of the evening without her best friend. Miley had a big shining smile on her lips when she answered.
“I do want to spend this evening with the person I love the most in this world.”
“Ohh. Have fun then.” Lilly answered, trying her best to sound casual.
“It is you silly, I thought I made that clear.”
A bright smile lit Lilly’s face up. Miley really did care more for her than Jake.
“That is so super! I wanna dance” Lilly said.
She was now back to her normal perky self. Miley could have spent the evening with dream boy Jake Ryan, but she choose not too. It was even possible that Miley and Jake would have got together, if they had spent the evening together. Yet Miley choose her and not Jake. Making such a decision showed how much Miley really cared for.
Lilly was absolutely giddy with excitement. She took Miley’s hand and led her out to the dance again. They met Jake, but Miley snubbed him off. The two friends instead danced together. They cast few glances at Jake in the beginning of the evening, but soon enough they forgot all about him. They had too much fun dancing together to care about him.
The evening went on and the two friends spent all the time together. With Oliver up on stage being DJ they were left to themselves. Whenever they didn’t dance they sat together and talked. As the night started to approach its end Oliver made an announcement.
“Hellllllllloooooo! Partay people! It’s time for the last few songs for the evening. So grab your darling and get groovy!” Oliver said as his silly DJ persona.
Miley resolutely grabbed Lilly and brought her to the dance floor. Lilly followed willingly. It would be the perfect end to this evening to dance the last few dances with Miley. The girls were ready to start dancing again, when they got a surprise. They had expected something to jump around and have fun to. Instead “Don’t speak” by No doubt came on. It was the ultimate slow dance song. No matter that it was from the 90’s. Oliver hadn’t really adhered to the seventies theme when it came to music. He had been content to choose songs from before the year 2000.
The two friends stared at each other. They stood like frozen. This song really was for couples. Oliver had told to bring your darling, but the girls hadn’t thought about that little detail. They stared at each other and they both stood perfectly still.
Lilly was panicking on the inside. She was torn between two feelings. On one hand it would be very strange to dance with Miley. People would surely look at them and Lilly didn’t even know if Miley wanted to dance to this song. On the other hand Lilly really, really wanted to dance with Miley. It had felt so wonderful to have Miley close earlier when they hugged and the prospect of dancing together sounded wonderful to Lilly. She knew that they had to do something soon. Either they got off the floor or they started to dance.
Lilly had a flashback to when Miley had encouraged her to wear her glasses in public and not care about what other people think. Lilly used that memory to beef up her inner strength. She decided to follow her heart and stepped forward and embraced Miley.
Miley was completely stiff at first, but she quickly relaxed in Lilly’s arms. They started to slowly dance to the song. Neither said a word. Lilly desperately tried to think of something to say, but she couldn’t think of anything. At least Miley seemed to like it. Lilly had no idea what any of this meant, but she knew one thing and that was that it felt good. She started to relax more and more and just enjoy the closeness they shared. Just like the couples out on the floor they held each other closely and listened to the lyrics.

Lilly listened to the words and realised how close it was to her own feelings. This song perfectly illustrated how she felt at the prospekt of losing Miley to Jake. She didn’t want to hear it from Miley, but some day Miley would get together with Jake and their friendship would never be the same again.
Its all ending,
I gotta stop pretending who we are...
Those words hit home even more. Lilly marveled at how songs can hit exactly the right spot. Stop pretendiong was exactly what she needed to do. What she had been pretending was that she was not in love with Miley.

I can see us dying... are we?
That too was true. If Miley went for Jake, then what the two of them had would be gone. Lilly felt jeolousy bubble up within her at the thought of Miley with someone else. The song went on and hammered in the truth in Lilly’s brain. She was in fact heads over heels in love with her best friend Miley Stewart. She had known that she loved Miley of course. She had known that she thought Miley was really cute. She had known that she loved spending time with Miley. She had known that she really liked being close to Miley.
She had not known or dared admit to herself that she in fact was in love with Miley. Lilly also realised that most of the jealousy from before had been about Jake stealing Miley rather than Miley stealing Jake. Dancing slowly together with Miley was like heaven and Lilly wished it could last forever. It couldn’t of course and soon enough the last few lines came.

Lilly had mixed feelings as the song drew to its end. On one hand she had finally admitted to herself how she felt and that was a great relief. On the other hand however, she knew that Miley was more interested in Jake. As soon as the song ended, the magic would be over and her friend would go back to Jake.
Lilly didn’t want to be left alone. Instead she herself left as soon as the song was over. Lilly ran out of the room and ran out into the warm California night. She sat down on a bench in the school yard. She sat there silently and stared up at the stars. She didn’t even have the chance to gather her thoughts before she heard Miley’s familiar voice behind her.
“Hey. What happened? Why did you run away?”
“Don’t you wanna dance with Jake?” Lilly asked.
“How many times am I going to have to tell you? I want to be with you tonight.”
“Yeah, tonight perhaps.”
“Yes Lilly, tonight. What is wrong with that?”
Lilly didn’t know what to say. She had been dangerously close to admitting how she felt. With Lilly being silent Miley spoke instead.
“I don’t know what you are getting at here, but whatever it is you can tell me when you are ready”
Miley then sat down on the bench next to Miley and laid her arm on Lilly’s shoulder. Lilly started to feel better again. Miley was here with her. That made everything better even if it was just for tonight. They sat together for a few minutes and looked at the stars. Lilly had no idea how to handle the situation. She now found herself in quite a dilemma. She feared that telling Miley how she felt would ruin their friendship forever. Not telling on the other hand would mean that she would have to carry this big secret forever. Lilly did her best to just enjoy this peaceful moment together with Miley. Their moment together was interrupted by Miley’s telephone ringing. Lilly could only hear Miley’s lines.
“Hello. It’s Miley”
“Yeah Just out back.”
“Ok, no prob. Be right there”
Miley ended the call and turned to Lilly.
“It was dad. He’s here to take me home.”
“Ohh” Lilly said, slightly deflated at the prospect of Miley leaving.
“Hey. You wanna sleep over?” Miley asked
Lilly’s face immediately lit up. The prospect of spending more time with Miley was always a good thing.
“Sure. Of course. I really want too. Let’s go!” Lilly said a bit too enthusiastically.
She quietly chastised herself for being so dorky as she walked behind Miley to the parking lot. She started to realise that it was going to be sweet torture to spend the night with the girl she had a secret crush on.
The two friends were getting installed in Miley’s room. It was late in the evening, but neither girl was tired. Lilly was sitting on the bed as Miley was working on unfolding the spare bed for Lilly. Miley was prattling on and on about anything and everything. One subject she didn’t touch on in her rant was Jake and Lilly was very grateful for that. Miley’s mouth was going full speed and that left no opportunity for Lilly to speak at all, but Lilly didn’t mind. She had a goofy smile on her face as she sat there and looked at Miley. Lilly was starting to become very comfortable with the thought of being in love with her best friend.
“Wanna go to the beach tomorrow?” Miley suddenly asked.
“Huh?” Lilly replied
“I just asked you if you wanted to go to the beach tomorrow. You were really spaced out.”
“Yeah I guess”
“There is something on your mind Lilly. Please tell me. We are best friends. I am sure I can help you out.”
Miley sat down on the bed next to Lilly. Lilly knew full well that there was no point pretending like nothing was wrong. Miley could read her and she wouldn’t stop asking until Lilly told her something. Lilly realised that she had one thing to start the discussion with.
“What do you think about our dance before?”
Miley flinched and her cheeks started to turn a shade of red.
“I uhhh. I think it was nice” Miley finally managed to get out.
Lilly stared intently at Miley. Her mind was working hard to analyse every little word and gesture that came from Miley. She was glad that Miley seemed to have liked their dance, but she didn’t dare to make too much of it.
“I also really liked to dance with you.” Lilly said in response
”Why did you run out like that then? You keep saying that I want to be with Jake, but I wanted to be with you.”
“Yes, tonight you wanted to be with me perhaps, but in the future you will want to be with Jake.” Lilly said with a deflated sigh.
Miley had a completely neutral expression on her face for a while. She was clearly processing what Lilly had just said. Lilly did her best to read Miley, but failed.
“So you’re saying that you don’t want me to be with Jake?”
Lilly was looking at her hands. This was it. Soon the penny would drop and Miley would understand exactly what she meant. She might just as well spell it out for Miley.
“Yes, Miley. I don’t want you to be with Jake. I want you to be with me. Not just as best friends. As girlfriends. I don’t just love you Miley. I’m in love with you”
Miley went completely silent. This is it, Lilly thought to herself. This is when she tells me to get out of here and to never come back again. Miley didn’t do that however. She just sat there completely silent. Slowly Lilly lifted her gaze from her own hands and to Miley’s face. Miley’s face was again completely neutral.
A small smile started to curl Miley’s lips. Soon it emerged into a full blown happy grin. The two friends held close eye contact. They both leaned in closer and closer until they had almost closed the distance between their lips. Lilly could not bear to go back if they went any further than this. She gave Miley one last chance to back out.
“Are you sure about this Miley? I mean I understand if you don’t and I”
Lilly was abruptly stopped when Miley closed the distance between them and initiated the kiss. Lilly could not believe how soft Miley’s lips were. The kiss started out tenderly. Their lips touched and they got used to that touch. Then Miley brought her tongue into the kiss and Lilly followed soon. Gradually the intensity and passion increased. They pushed their mouths closer together and started to do some serious exploring with their tongues.
Lilly couldn’t believe what she was doing. So much had changed during this day. The day had started with Lilly looking forward to going to the dance with Jake, but it ended with Lilly and Miley making out instead. Lilly thought about how much better this was than being with Jake. The two girls almost got lost in each other. Finally it was Lilly who had to break the kiss in order to breathe.
“Wow, that just…wow.” Miley said.
“Yeah I know, that was …exactly what you said…wow.” Lilly responded.
The two girls then shared a giggle over how silly they sounded.
“You know. I just realised this. Tonight.” Lilly said.
“Tonight?”
“Yep, that last dance made it clear to me.”
“Made what clear?”
“That I’m in love with you silly.”
“I know. I just wanted to hear it.” Miley said with a goofy smile
“Why you little…” Lilly said and did her Homer Simpson impression.
Instead of strangling Miley she started to mercilessly tickle her friend. Miley was extremely ticklish and she was soon screaming. The two girls played around wrestling and tickling on the bed. It was something they had done before, but now with their new found love it was different. They happened to find themselves face to face. They looked at each other for about half a second before they started to make out again.
This time the kiss was passionate and intense from the beginning. Lilly was on top of Miley and had full body contact as they kissed. They started to roll around in Miley’s bed, but they managed to sustain the lip lock. Lilly could not believe how amazing it felt. She had kissed a few boys before, but this kiss was so much better. It was gentle and intense all at the same time. Miley’s tongue seemed to be everywhere at once. After several minutes they finally parted and lay down next to each other. They both breathed deeply in order to recover.
“You know that I love you too right?” Miley said
“Yes, I got that impression from all the intense kissing.” Lilly answered.
“I just wanted to say it. I don’t think I can say it enough. I love love you Lilly Truscott.”
“I love love you too Miley Stewart.”
“So anyway. You said that you found out tonight.”
“Yeah. That last dance we had made me realise it. That song hit home. I understood that I was angry at you for taking Jake instead of me. Not for taking Jake away from me.”
“You lusted after him in the first place.” Miley remarked.
“I just needed something to do. As far as boys go he’s OK, but he’s is nothing compared to you.” Lilly firmly stated.
“I feel exactly the same. He is nothing compared to you.”
They shared another kiss, but this one was different. It was a brief peck just to confirm their mutual love.
“How long have you known?” Lilly asked with a serious expression.
“I think I have always known. That I like girls that is. I have liked you since I came here. For me loving you and being in love with you came at the same time.”
Lily sat silent for a while trying to digest what she had just heard. Miley had loved her from the beginning. Lilly couldn’t believe that she hadn’t noticed. Lily thought back to the first day she had met Miley. It had been the first day of the term and the teacher had introduced a new girl to the class. The teacher had asked the class who could show the new girl around and help her get adjusted. Lilly’s hand had immediately shot up into the air. Ever since that day the two had been inseparable. Miley had been Lilly’s first real female friend. Before that Lilly had always hung out with Oliver and other boys.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me before” Lilly said.
“I’m sorry Lilly. You didn’t feel the same way.”
“I didn’t know I felt the same way. Perhaps if you had told me, I would have understood that I really love you.”
“I was afraid to loose you. I know many people, but you are the only one I can really trust. I couldn’t stomach the thought of losing you.”
“Aww” was all Lilly managed to get out.
Lilly moved in and gave Miley a hug. Both girls were becoming really emotional and had tears in their eyes. Lilly thought it felt amazing to hold on to Miley. They were incredibly close, both literally and figuratively. Lilly wanted the moment to last forever. Miley eventually broke from the hug, but she still held Lilly’s hand. She made small circles with her thumb on Lilly’s hand.
“I’m so tired. Will you snuggle with me?” Miley asked.
Lilly pretended to think about that for a second before she started to giggle. She didn’t answer the question. She just crept up and lay down in Miley’s bed. Miley was quick to follow and soon the two girls snuggled up real close in Miley’s bed. It really was only room for one, but Miley was practically on top of Lilly so they had room.
“Are we girlfriends now ?” Lilly suddenly asked.
“Well. I love you and you love me so I guess that makes us girlfriends.” Miley responded.
“Wow. Miley is my girlfriend. That is something I never though I’d say.”
“I like it. I have a girlfriend and her name is Lilly. I like saying that.”
“Are we going to … you know… come out now?” Lilly asked.
“We’ll talk about that in the morning sweetie. I really need to sleep now.” Miley answered.
Lilly had hoped for a more straight answer then that, but she respected that Miley wanted to sleep. Lilly too felt tired and she simply slowly drifted off to sleep in Miley’s embrace.
Lilly’s first coherent thought the next morning was that she wasn’t alone. This other person had and arm and a leg thrown over Lilly. It took several confused seconds before Lilly remembered the night before and that the girl almost on top of her was Miley. A smile quickly spread across Lilly’s face as she realised that she now had a girlfriend.
Miley had her face nuzzled up in Lilly’s neck and Lilly’s could feel every breath her girlfriend took Miley was still sound asleep and Lilly didn’t want to wake her. She looked over at the clock and it showed 9.34 a.m. The day before had been exhausting so Lilly wasn’t surprised that they had slept for so long. Today was a Saturday so they could sleep for as long as they wanted. Lilly decided to lay still and let Miley get her sleep. Lilly’s thoughts started to drift.
“Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I have a girlfriend. She used to be my best friend, but now she is my girlfriend. Less then a day ago I had no idea that I was in love with her and that she was in love with me, but here we are snuggled up together in her bed. This is the best thing ever. She is so lovely. Cute. Smart. Funny. Adorable. Hell, she is even famous. She is the perfect girlfriend. I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
Lilly’s thoughts went on in pretty much the same way for quite some time. She really had to get used to all that had changed in the last 24 hours. Eventually Miley started to stir. Lilly noticed and made sure that the first thing Miley saw when she opened her eyes was Lilly’s smiling face.
“God Morning love.” Lilly said.
Miley immediately smiled back. They lay like that for a while just looking at each other. Lilly really didn’t want to break the silence, but she was itching to ask about something.
“I have to know. Are we going to tell anyone?”
“We’ll talk about it later. First shower and breakfast. Then we’ll talk about it. I promise.”
Lilly wasn’t happy with that answer, but she accepted it none the less. She realised that she was very hungry and that she really needed a shower. They would talk, but not just yet.
It was about two hours later and the girls were next to each other on a blanket down at the beach. It was a bright and sunny day and the beach was crowded as usual. They had wanted to spend the day together of course and the beach had been the obvious choice. They had behaved just like normal for the last hours and it was really starting to get to Lilly. She wanted to speak to Miley, but choose not to. Miley would speak when she was ready. Fortunately it happened quite soon. Miley turned over on her side and faced Lilly who of course did the same.
“You know I love you, right?” Miley asked.
“Yeah I know. I love you too.” Lilly answered.
“I would love to scream out to the world that I love you and that you are my girlfriend.”
“I’m sensing a but here”
“Yeah. But I’m afraid of telling my family that I have a girlfriend. It really isn’t accepted back in Tennessee you know.”
Lilly could see that Miley was really sad. She was obviously feeling bad about keeping this a secret, but she was also afraid to tell anyone. A small tear was rolling down Miley’s cheeks. Lilly swiped it up with her thumb.
“I understand. I want to kiss you so much right now, but I won’t do it.”
“I mean. I will tell everyone some day, but not just yet.”
“Ok. I am ready whenever you want to tell the world.”
The two newfound girlfriends spent almost all their time together the next few weeks. Lola was with Hannah on every single concert. The love songs took on a new meaning to Miley. They were all dedicated to Lola/Lilly in Miley’s head. Miley could put a lot more energy and feeling into these songs now that she and Lilly were together.
Miley attended every single one of Lilly’s cheerleader practises. Miley sat spellbound during Lilly’s cheering. It was lucky that the other cheerleaders were so self centred, otherwise they would have notice the look of pure love and lust on Miley’s face when she looked at Lilly. Lilly on the other hand directed all her cheering to Miley.
The two kissed a lot of course. Every chance they got, but only when they were alone. There was a lot of sneaking involved. The school basement, the limo and Hanna’s closet were only a few of the places they sneaked away and kissed. Lilly noticed how ironic it was that they were in the closet and they shared a good giggle over that. Lilly wanted to be open about things, but she had to admit that all the sneaking was very exciting.
They managed to keep their relationship a secret until one day, when day a few weeks later.
Lilly had followed Miley home from school. The school day had been awful. Awful in the sense that they hadn’t had one chance to sneak away and make out. Whenever they tried something seemed to come in the way. Oliver had been bothering them a lot and when he wasn’t around one of them had to do something else. It hadn’t even been discussed that Lilly would follow Miley home. It just happened naturally. They walked together and even dared to walk hand in hand. It wasn’t to strange for two friends to walk hand in hand after all.
Miley and Lilly reached Miley’s house and they immediately retreated to Miley’s room. Their desire to finally get to kiss was very strong. Their lips met the second the door closed behind them. It had been more than 24 hours since they last kissed and that fuelled their desire. They ended up in Miley’s bed with Miley on top. They were completely into each other and didn’t pay any attention to the outer world. That turned out to be a mistake however. The kiss was interrupted by the door opening.
Miley literally flew off Lilly and landed on the floor. Lily immediately turned to the door. There stood Jackson with an expression of complete and total shock on his face. He had seen enough and it was no point hiding it. Miley quickly went over to him and tried to make contact but he was unreachable.
“Jackson! This is a secret. You understand?” Miley shouted in his ear.
That didn’t seem to affect him though. He was still staring straight ahead with a stupefied expression. Miley waved her arm in front of Jackson’s face, but she got no response. She closed the door behind him and pulled him into the room. She placed him in an armchair and again tried to make contact. This time it succeeded.
“You whaaa. And with Lilly and it’s… and you … you two…. Kissing… you…Lilly….on the bed…. Kissing”
“That’s right. Me and Lilly are together and you better damn well keep you mouth shut about it or I will make you regret the day you were born” Miley threatened in her angriest voice.
It seemed to work on poor Jackson who still was too shocked to give any coherent answer. He quickly left the room with a scared look on his face.
“Wow. You really showed him” Lilly said.
“Yeah. If anyone is going to spread the word about us it sure as hell isn’t going to be that doofus.”
“You were really tough.” Lilly remarked.
“Oh yeah?”
“I liked it” Lilly said with a husky voice and moved in for another kiss.
Miley accepted and they started to make out again on the bed. The fact that Jackson now knew their secret did nothing to quench their thirst for each other. If anything this kiss was even more intense and passionate. They made out for several minutes in order to make up for that entire day without kissing they had endured. The kiss was long and intense and it ended when Lilly pulled away to breath.
“I guess this brings up the whole telling people thing again huh?” Miley asked.
“Yeah.” Lilly agreed.
“Jackson is such a doofus. Even if he really tries he’s never able to keep a secret. Eventually He’ll spill the beans.”
“So it’s time to tell then?” Lilly asked.
“It is” Miley said with a sad and apprehensive look on her face.
Lilly immediately moved in for a hug in order to comfort and reassure her girlfriend.
“Don’t worry love. I’m sure things will be alright.”
“I hope you’re right.” Miley answered in a weak voice.
“I am Lilly. I am always right.”
Miley couldn’t help but giggle at her girlfriend’s assertiveness.
“See. You’re feeling better already.” Lilly remarked.
“I guess I am.”
About an hour later Robbie entered the house. The girls had killed their time baking and they were in the kitchen waiting for their second batch of brownies to be done in the oven.
“Hello girls.” Rabbie greeted as he entered.
“Hey daddy.”
“Hey Mr S.”
“Smells lovely in here. The two of you are really good at this.”
“Thanks daddy. Here have a brownie”
They both figured that a freshly baked treat would lessen the shock somewhat.
“So daddy. I uuhhh… we have something to tell you.”
“Ok. I’m listening.”
They were sitting next to each other and held hands under the table. Miley squeezed Lilly’s hand reassuringly.
“You like Lilly right?”
“I can’t answer that with her in the room” Robbie said with a serious expression.
He held a straight face for about a second before he gave himself away.
“Just kidding. You know I like all your friends Bud.”
The two nervous girls sighed in relief. They were both so nervous that they hadn’t sensed Robbie’s joke, something they would have done in normal circumstances.
“Anyway. I like Lilly….a lot.”
“Of course you do, that’s obvious.”
“No dad. I mean I love her and she loves me. We are a couple.”
A drawn out moment of silence followed before Robbie spoke.
“Miley darling. I don’t think I can think of anyone who would be a better partner for you. I’m so happy that you’ve found someone.”
“Ohh daddy!” Miley practically screamed and threw herself in her father’s arms.
They hugged for seconds. Miley had tears in her eyes as all the built up tension subsided.
“So you’re Ok with Lilly being a girl and all?” Miley asked.
“Yes, honey I am Ok with Lilly being a girl.”
“But you know, with me liking a girl.”
“Of course honey. I had been expecting to have this conversation, but not with you.”
Miley quickly put two and two together.
“You mean you thought Jackson were….?”
“I think I said a bit much here. Don’t tell him Ok.”
Miley sealed her lips with an imaginary zipper.
“I really am happy that it is you. Now you take good care of my little girl” Robbie said turned to Lilly”
“I promise.” Lilly firmly stated.
“Daaaad” Miley complained, thinking her father was embarrassing.
“Now honey be glad it wasn’t a boyfriend. In that case I would have been a lot more threatening.” Robbie said, only half joking.
“I’m so happy that you’re Ok with this.” Miley said.
“Of course I am, but I am worried though.”
“What?” Miley asked.
“You know there are lot of insecure and hateful people out there. It’s not going to be easy for you.”
“I know dad.” Miley said with sad eyes.
“I want you to know that I will do anything to help you whenever you run in to problems.”
“Thanks dad.”
“Thanks Mr. S” Lilly chipped in.
“So who knows?” Robbie Ray asked.
“Just Jackson, he walked in on us.” Miley said.
A moment of complete silence followed and Miley suddenly realised how her words could be interpreted.
“KISSING! He walked in on us kissing. Nothing else.”
Another moment of awkward silence followed. It was eventually broken by Robbie Ray.
“So, Lilly. Does your parents know?”
“No, I haven’t talked to them.”
“I see. I don’t really know them, but I’m sure they’ll be alright with it.”
“Yeah. I think so.” Lilly answered.
“And in school?”
“No one knows.” Miley answered.
“I wanna talk to my parents now. Can we go Miley, please can we?” Lilly suddenly blurted out.
“Sure. Bye, daddy.”
“Bye Mr S.”
“You know what Lilly. Call me Robbie.”
“Ok, bye Robbie”
With hat the two young lovebirds were out the house on their way to Lilly’s.
A very happy couple was walking hand in hand along the beach. They had just told their secret to Lilly’s parents and the response they got was a very good one. Like Robbie Ray Lilly’s parents had worried somewhat, but they had also given full support and promised to do what they could to help the young couple. Lilly was hyper energized and giddy with happiness. Lilly was singing a little improvised tune.

And so the song went on. Lilly wasn’t really the best singer in the world, but she wasn’t the worst either. Miley couldn’t help to fall completely for the little tune. Lilly kept going for quite some time, but eventually she tired.
“Thanks, that was so cute” Miley said with a huge grin plastered over her face.
“Yay. I did good.” Lilly said.
She then went on to do some back flips on the beach. Just like she had done on cheerleading practise. Lilly struck a pose in the end as if waiting for applause. She got one pair of hands clapping from her girlfriend.
“That was so good.” Miley said.
“Did I impress you?”
“You don’t have to impress me.”
“Yeah, yeah, but did I?”
Miley simply giggled and pulled Lilly in for a kiss. It was quick and spontaneous.
“Does that answer your question?” Miley asked.
“I guess that was our first kiss in public.” Lilly stated.
They both looked around. No one was paying them any particular attention, but some people must have noticed the kiss. They looked at each other and moved in for another kiss. Unlike the last one, this was slow and deliberate.
“I’m so glad we don’t need to sneak anymore.” Miley said.
“Just one more thing. Oliver.” Lilly reminded.
“Yeah, so do you wanna tell him now?” Miley asked.
“We might just as well. Now that we’ve told our parents it feels quite easy to tell him.”
Lilly then took out her cell and dialled Oliver. The call was over very quickly.
“He’s already here on the beach. I told him to come down here.”
Miley and Lilly settled down and on the beach and waited for Oliver.
“You know, now that we are official girlfriends, can we date now?” Lilly asked.
“Sure. I’d love too. Watcha wanna do?” Miley asked.
“I dunno. Catch a movie and eat some pizza?”
“We have done before as friends.” Miley reminded.
“Yeah, perhaps, but it will be special now that we are girlfriends.”
“Ok. So you wanna date on Friday?”
“It’s a deal.” Lilly confirmed.
The deal was sealed with a little peck. The two were getting so used to kissing by now that it came completely natural, even in public. The girls then spent some time eating apples and enjoying the sun.
“Hiiya girls. What’s up?” Oliver said as he announced his presence.
“Hi. Sit down. Me and Miles have something to tell you.” Lilly said.
“Sure, what is it?” Oliver asked as he sat down on the sand.
“We’re together!” Lilly said in a chirpy tone.
Oliver sat completely dumbfounded, unable to grasp what he had heard. Miley moved in and held his face as she spoke.
“Me and Lilly are together. We are in love. We are a couple.”
“You’re together like a couple. You’re in love?” Oliver asked in confusion.
“Yes that is it. We are together.” Lilly clarified.
Oliver didn’t say anything at all. He simply got up and ran away. Before any of the girls had time to react he was gone. The two girls looked at each other with worried expressions.
“What was that all about?” Miley asked.
“I don’t know. We’ll let him think things over and I’m sure he’ll be alright.” Lilly assured.
“I hope you’re right. I really hope you are. Miley answered.
Miley and Lilly walked hand in hand on their way to school. They hadn’t had any contact with Oliver since their big announcement yesterday, but they hoped to meet him once they arrived. They walked in nervous silence, thinking about how to deal with the Oliver problem. Once they arrived they were disappointed to find that he was nowhere to be seen. Their first lesson which was English started, but Oliver was still absent. The lesson ended without sight of Oliver and the girls concluded that they wouldn’t see him at all today.
So, You think he’s sick or what?” Miley asked.
“Yeah right.” Lilly said grimly.
“He could be. Perhaps he’s just…” Miley trailed off.
“Look, I know him better than you. Once he’s hung up on something he can dwell on it forever. Obviously he didn’t like this and now he’ll cling to that.”
Lilly saw the sad look on her friends face and tried to back peddle somewhat.
“He still likes us of course. He’s just a bit stubborn sometimes. He’ll come around in the end even if it may take some time.”
Miley was still sad and Lilly had to resort to the big guns in her arsenal of consolation methods. She drew Miley in to a tight embrace.
“Thanks Lilly.” Miley said with a weak voice.
Just then their sweet moment was interrupted by the gruesome twosome Amber and Ashley.
“Are you two girlfriends or what?” Amber said in taunting tone.
Miley’s sadness immediately turned into pure anger. Oliver reaction was saddening, because he was their friend, but these girls weren’t. Miley ended the hug, but only so she could look Lilly in the eyes.
“So, you wanna make it official?” Miley whispered to Lilly.
“Sure do. I want the world to know.” Lilly whispered back.
Miley turned to the two evil bimbos with a defiant look on her face.
“So, are you girlfriends or what? Ashley filled in.
“Can’t you even come up with your own questions?” Lilly asked.
Ashley and Amber were always the centre of attention in school. That meant that this little standoff had quite an audience. The students in the corridor had stopped their normal activities and followed this little drama closely.
“You wanna know if this cute and wonderful girl is my girlfriend?” Miley asked, brimming with anger.
“Yeah. I do.” Amber said with growing insecurity.
This wasn’t going as she had hoped. She had expected shame and denial from the two losers.
“And you wanna know if this thoughtful and beautiful girl is my girlfriend?” Lilly filled in.
“Yeah I do.” Amber said, repeating her earlier answer.
A significant audience had gathered by now. No one said anything, they simply observed the verbal standoff. Miley and Lilly locked eyes. It was now or never, they both realised. They slowly moved in and let their lips meet in a kiss. They were both incredibly nervous, but the sensations of the kiss soon eased their worries. They intensified the kiss to a full make-out session. The huge audience was completely forgotten. They got lost in the kiss and didn’t stop until they both needed to breathe.
Everyone who had seen the kiss stared in disbelief. Amber and Ashley were completely slack jawed. The secret was out and now the only thing the loving couple could do was to wait for the reaction. A painfully long time of complete silence followed.
Then finally, there was a reaction. One pair of hands started to clap. The rest of the crowd followed like sheep and soon everyone except Amber and Ashley were clapping and cheering.
The clapping faded and was replaced by a conundrum of voices. People started to crowd around Miley and Lilly and give them praise and support. First in the crowd was of course Sarah.
“Hi. I just wanted to say that I think you are making a great effort for greater tolerance and diversity here at this bastion of conformity. Such a wonderful display of resistance to the reigning repressive norms is truly beneficial for the greater cause. ”
“Uhhhm thanks I guess, but we just love each other.” Miley answered.
All the other reactions were similarly positive For the first time Amber and Ashley were completely ignored. Everyone just wanted to talk with the lesbian couple.
“HEY! LOOK AT THIS!” Amber screamed.
She momentarily got everyone’s attention.
“We can also be lesbians.”
She grabbed Ashley and brought her in for a kiss. It was a rough and hasted kiss. It held the attention for about three seconds, before people turned their attention back to the loving couple. The questioning they went through was a little like a press conference and Miley used her experience from such events to answer the questions. Lilly on the other hand turned her gaze in the direction where she first had heard the clapping and there she saw Oliver standing with a content smile on his face.
The three friends were reunited on the same bench were Lilly had been sitting a few weeks ago when she had realised her feelings for Miley.
“So, I guess I owe you an apology for my behaviour.” Oliver said meekly.
“I think you made up when you saved us in there.” Miley said.
“You don’t need to apologise, but an explanation would be nice.” Lilly said.
“Yeah. I was shocked when you told me. I mean this is huge. I have nothing against the two of you being … you know with each other. It’s just that I kinda expected to end up with one of you sooner or later. I mean I’m not in love with any of you I just kinda thought that one day…”
“Well as long as it’s Ok right now. I guess we owe you a thank you for what you did in there.” Miley said.
“It was the least I could do. At first I didn’t want to see you, but than I decided to do the right thing and go to school. I came just in time for your little showdown with the duo of double trouble. I just stood there watching and then you did your thing, you know the kiss and I you know thought it was great. I mean you are my best friends and you have found love and…”
“Oliver are you crying?” Miley asked.
“What? Crying, no. Why would I cry? I just got a little sand in my eye, that all.”
“It’s so sweet of you to cry.” Lilly said with awe in her voice.
“I am not crying, now if you excuse me I have to get this sand out of my eye.”
With that Oliver was gone and the two girlfriends were left alone. The girls turned to each other and looked at each other. No words were needed, they simply closed the distance between them and kissed.
