As far as I know, there does not exist a model of helicopter like I described Midge and Beany as being. But as you can see, my conception of what they would look like is not too far off from what does exist today. It took me about a day to merge the two top aircraft into the final version of Midge, and I think it turned out pretty well, even if I do say so myself.
I personally have never been in an helicopter, and I don't share in Tim's fascination for them either. You might be surprised to know that I wrote Chapter 10 part 6 where I introduce Midge BEFORE I wrote about Beany and Holly in Chapter 9. I wanted Tim to get something pretty cool for his sixteenth birthday, something he wasn't expecting and pretty exciting. At first it wasn't a helicopter, but I dont' recall what it was though. Like a lot of the story, I just spontaniously created it as I went, and as I was writing that part of chapter 10, it just felt natural to say something like "just like the one I had flown last fall."
Basically, I stopped there, then went back and wrote the two parts on Holly and Beany, and got stuck on the sex they had in the trailer for a long time. I mean, I have trouble finishing a sex scene if it gets too hot and I erupt.. It's just hard to go back and pick up where you left off in that kind of a scene, that's all..
Anyway, I naturally had to rewrite the part about Midge afterwards, but only to include Holly and Beany into it. I thought you might find it kind of interesting to see how I work sometimes. I'm constantly jumping from one part of the story to another, and surprisingly enough it does all work out. I just hope I didn't confuse you, that's all..
If you're currious to know more about hobbyist rotorcraft which Midge
and Beany would be classified as if they existed, check out this
page which is where I got the graphics I used above.
