*** Status Update *** I wish had better news as far as when the next chapter will be posted, but that isn't the case. I've been dealing with quite a few things that have severely interfered with my writing. Most of it has involved various illnesses with me and my kids. I hope all of that is behind me now!\ However, I do hope to post chapter 58 of <i>"Melissa's Secrets"</i> during the first few weeks of January. Chapter 59 is in the works also. So hopefully it can be posted soon after that. I know I owe a lot of people replies to their emails. Hopefully I can put a dent into those over the coming few weeks. "Chapter 56 - Home Alone" and "Chapter 57 - Couples Night" have been posted. These chapters cover the entire day of Monday, August 7. A lot goes on in both chapters. There is a potential "squick" where a male character is describing his bisexuality and certain experiences. While male bisexuality isn't new to the story, actual descriptions of sex between males is new. There will be more of this in the future, so consider this fair warning for those who do not care to read that type of thing. I also reposted a few other chapters: Prologue - Continuity error fixed regarding when Melissa rejoined the cheer squad. Cover - Reminder that some codes only apply briefly or aren't included to avoid spoilers. Also, bisexual applies to both males and females . Cast of Characters - City name change from Salem to Albany. I've been attempting to stay away from real city/town names, and I goofed with the city name of the primary setting of the story! Ugh! There really is a tiny town in South Carolina named Salem. Chapter 42 - Minor continuity fix involving Bradley's bisexuality and a typo. Chapter 46 - Minor continuity fix involving when Jamie first met the Formons. Chapter 54 - Additional narrative and dialogue added. I just wasn't happy with certain sections. Chapter 55 - Same issue as in chapter 54. When will chapter 58 be posted? Fuck if I know. Hopefully a lot sooner than the most recent. I do have time to write, but as the story moves along, there is a whole lot more continuity checking going on. That takes time. Remember, I hadn't originally planned to write this part of the story years back. While I did my best to avoid problems, a few small ones have popped up recently, such as the ones I've fixed with my reposts. Also, I am an amateur writer. This is purely a hobby for me. I have no plans at all to go pro. When this becomes a "job", I'll just as quickly "retire". I do this purely for the fun of it. My kids and husband will always take priority when it comes to my time. When I have a good idea of a date for the next chapter, I'll post it to my blog. It seems to frustrate everyone (including myself) when I post it's "coming soon" and "soon" quickly passes by. I know I owe a bunch of people an email reply. I haven't forgotten you. And I do read your emails. They're very helpful in my understanding what you're getting out of each chapter. I VERY much appreciate them. Again, I so very much appreciate all the hours my editor, Nick, puts into making this story such a pleasure for me to write. And I do mean hours. As in hours and hours. As far as I'm concerned, Nick is a pro. At the moment, "Book 1" will run a total of seventy-seven chapters plus an epilogue. That is if I don't split anymore chapters like I've done recently. Update On "Melissa's Secrets" Unfortunately, this is just an update. However, the next chapter is in the process of going through its final edits. Barring unforeseen tragedies, it will be posted next weekend. In all likelihood, I'll be splitting it into two chapters. But! I will post them both at the same time. The chapter is that big. It covers the entire Tuesday, so you should have plenty to chew on. I hate that it has taken me so long to post chapters this year. The summer turned out to be much busier than I had anticipated. While it has been busy, I've been able to do a lot of writing as well. I started to post updates to my blog, but then didn't know what to post as an update since I really didn't know when chapter 56 would be posted. I've also totally neglected my email. I've partly done that because in the past it has slowed me down even more when I'm struggling to find time to write. So, for those I owe emails, I apologize. For those waiting and checking every week for a chapter, I apologize as well. It's the nature of being an amateur writer with a husband and kids. Nick, my editor, has been very patient with me as well. I very much appreciate ALL the time he devotes to helping make "Melissa's Secrets" what it is. As I head down the homestretch with this book, there are so many continuity checks that have to be made. Needless to say, this story would be a mess without him. The item Melissa and Sarah find will start the two of them on a quest that will bring them much closer together than they've been over the past year. How can they find the proof they need to completely unravel the huge secret they discover in that box? Will they stumble upon even more things in the process? Update On “Melissa’s Secrets” Chapter 54 is coming along fine. It's going to be another very large chapter. It will cover the entire day of Sunday, which will include a major discovery by Melissa. I'm taking my time with this chapter to make sure I get everything right the first time. My editor, Nick, has been a big help in doing that. I know I owe a number of people email replies. Melissa learns quite a bit about her mother’s parents that she never knew, as well as some new things about her mother’s youth. There are some very key moments in this chapter. Update On “Melissa’s Secrets” I had hoped to have chapter 53 ready to post long before now. But, things have certainly not gone as planned. First, the weather threw a monkey wrench into my plans. Then, about a week ago, the monkey wrench killed my laptop. Fortunately I had everything saved and backed up! Now I’m trying to decide what to replace the laptop with - another laptop or something else, like a chromebook. I hope to have that taken care of soon. It could take a few more weeks to post chapter 53. It is huge in size, so there will be a lot to read when you get it. It will cover the entire Saturday in Long Cane. Update On “Melissa’s Secrets” I’ve pretty much recovered from the ice storm we had in the Southeast USA last week. We were without electricity for several days and had a lot of cleaning up to do. I’m now back into a writing groove. At this point, I’m hoping to post chapter 53 in a few weeks. This will be a relatively important chapter because of the introduction of the Jeffcoats and Thompsons directly into the story. Melissa is introduced to and discovers a number of new things, just as she was in the last chapter. I had hoped to pick up the pace for posting chapters this year. Two winter storms over the past month have really put a damper on my plans though. Hopefully that can change now. But please remember, this is just a hobby for me. Life and family will always come first. Also, I want to thank my editor, Nick, for hanging in there with me. He’s been very loyal and I very much appreciate his time and expertise. "Chapter 52 - Getting There Is Half the Fun " has been posted. This begins an important turn in the story to the discovery of the big secret shared by Andrea and Colleen. Other secrets will also be resolved, as well as uncovered, over the remaing chapters. I've also reposted "Chapter 51 - A Night Of Firsts " with a significant change to the final few scenes. After receiving comments and thinking through how the scene was orignally written, I decided to alter it. Both Peter and Melissa came across as being "out of character". Mel pushed Peter into something he was saying no to. Even Andrea and Greg allowed it to occur in the original version, which was very out of character for them. Thus the change. I don't have any eligible stories for the 2013 award, but I strongly encourage you to go and nominate your favorite stories from ASSTR, as well as any other website. The only requirement is that the entire story must be "free" to access. You can also nominate your favorite authors who "completed" a story during 2013. There is a "Classic" category for stories completed for more than five years that have never been nominated for the Golden Cliteride in the past. Nominations for 2013 will close on February 28th, 2014. Voting for finalists will start March 1st, 2014 and extend until April 14th, 2014. The winners will be announced April 15th, 2014. Have fun! Chapter 48 - Resistance Is Futile
The changes in chapter 48 were only a few grammatical issues. However, the major change in chapter 6 dealt with a continuity issue. Back when I originally wrote this chapter there was a reference to Penny coming home early because a cheer practice had been canceled. While it didn’t explicitly say Penny was a cheerleader, that was my intent oh so many years ago. Of course, I didn’t go that direction. And, after my extended (i.e. 6 year) break, I never went back and dealt with it. Amazingly, no readers ever picked up on it! The change involved having Penny coming home early because Mandy Shaw’s cheer practice was canceled. As for the status of chapter 50, I’ve split it into two chapters because of the length. So, chapter 50 & 51 make up the original. Chapter 50 is all but finished. Mel spends some time at the Rayners before going out on the group date. I won’t post chapter 50 until I’ve completed chapter 51. It shouldn’t take long to finish. Enjoy your weekend! Pookie

Origin of Melissa’s Secrets *** SPOILER ALERT *** If you’re not up to chapter 46 with your reading, you may want to skip this blog post. There are references to things that you likely would prefer discovering in the story instead of here. When KK and I began thinking about writing a story together back in 2002, we really didn’t have a specific plot in mind. I was hoping we could blend our strengths as writers to come up with a fun story. We weren’t thinking about a writing a very lengthy story at the time. The idea was to alternate writing chapters. In order to write a seamless story that didn’t look like two separate writers throwing chapters together, we needed to develop a plot and characters we both understood the same way. So, we began sharing ideas. The basic premise we settled on involved two young teen girls who are best friends exploring sex for the first time with each other. They would be discovered by one of their mothers. The mothers would talk about it, and then one of the mothers would seduce her friend’s daughter. She would then expose the girl to other things, such as swinging. The woman would even admit to having had sex with her older brother, and encouraging the girl to have sex with her own older brother. That would lead the girl into exploring a number of sexual things with the woman. The story was to generally revolve around secrets that the girl was learning about and keeping. The mothers would underestimate her desire to know more and more, which would lead her to stumbling into bigger things that the parents were involved with. KK offered to write the first couple of chapters with the input I’d given him about the two best friends and the best friend’s mother. Then I would write the next few chapters, and go back and forth like that. He ended up posting the first four chapters. So, I started work on the next few chapters. I did share those with him (chapters 5 & 6). KK liked them, and so I posted them. After that though, KK decided that he really couldn't offer too much more for the plot and characters. So he turned the whole thing over to me to finish. I then proceeded to plot out the whole story in detail, which I thought at the time would be about 20 good sized chapters. Of course, that was a major underestimation. I also came up with most of the other major characters at that time. I’ve since added more characters over the past two years as the thought of a Book 2 has come into better focus. In 2004, I began to get burned out from everything going on in my life -- school, marriage, work, etc. etc. The story had a sizable following and I was feeling the pressure to post something regularly. I had a lot of great things planned for the rest of the story. I was anxious to get them all written, which turned out to be my downfall at the time. The time I had to write was becoming very scarce and I became very frustrated. Finally, I started rushing to finish the story. I started deleting whole planned chapters and storylines. The backyard campout was gone. Mrs. Thomas was gone (which really bothered me at the time). Anything to do with the church was gone. The revelations from Andrea’s college days were gone. The relationship with Peter was gone. Jennifer was gone. The nudist campground was gone - No Donkey Dick or Mr. Pervert. Tammy was gone. Most other things yet to come at the time were gone. I was basically gonna have Mel, Sarah, and Pam discovering a few more things together ... which I hadn’t clearly defined even for myself. Andrea and Mel would get closer, but not to the degree the college days’ revelation allowed things to become. There wouldn’t have been any sexual involvement between Mel and her parents until the last chapter. Then Mel would discover the big secret - end of story. Looking at what was left, I just decided to completely stop writing it. I didn't want to end it like I was planning. So, the story sat for six years. I wasn’t even checking my “Pookie” email because it was just reminders from readers that I shouldn’t abandon the story. I didn’t have the time to even seriously think about the story, much less do any writing. With my time freeing up (for good reasons) in early 2011, I dusted it off and started writing again. I added some things back, but not all, which almost tripped me up when I had Mrs. Thomas originally say that she and Andrea had never taken money for sex. When I finally decided to add the prostitution revelation back in, I had to go back and revise the earlier chapter with Doris and Mel’s discussion after some readers noted the continuity problem. I started posting chapters again in June 2011. The reaction was great. I began having fun again with it. I was pacing myself too. I still am! So, I decided to add everything back in, and even added a number of new things. Book 2 began to really take shape as an idea over the past eight months. Even a Book 3 looks very promising. And that more or less brings us up to today. KK’s version of the characters Colleen, Bob, Sarah, and Pam have remained as he wrote them. The original portrayal of Melissa didn’t quite sit well with me though. She didn’t come across quite as spunky, daring, and determined as I wanted her to be. She was really curious about things, but was just a little too passive for me. So, I slightly revised some of her earliest dialogue and introspective style to accomplish that. She still comes off as a little passive in the first two chapters, but not enough for me to fret about. I actually use that to justify to myself her tendency to be passive at times. To me, it’s her excuse for how she can brush off some things others see as important while focusing on what she thinks is really important. That’s where it rubs some readers the wrong way when she doesn’t demand to know everything all the time, or become confrontational more often. That’s how she can stay so obsessed with the big secret and anything she strongly feels will lead her to discovering what that is. She doesn’t let what she considers to be the less important things bog her down. So, that is the basic origin of the story, and a bit of how it got to where it is today. KK occasionally emails me and says he likes where our creation has gone, and plans to go. He knows the rest of the basic plot for Book 1. Nick, my editor, knows it in great detail. Melissa’s Secrets - Something From The Cutting Room Floor I’ve been thinking about some possible things I could share with everyone while on my hiatus. I figured that I could share some extras and behind the scenes stuff regarding “Melissa’s Secrets”. The first thing I’ve decided to share is a part of a scene from a recent chapter that didn’t make it into the final version before it was posted. This actually happens more often than you might think. For those who recall, I did go back and add a deleted scene as a separate “extra” chapter (what is now “Chapter 25 - Mothers on the Phone”). Usually a part of a scene is cut because it is either overkill, serves no useful purpose, or a distraction to the intent behind the scene. One instance occurred early in Chapter 43 during the talk involving Mel, her mom, Mrs. Walcott, and Mrs. Preston. Below is the deleted part. The first two sentences are in Chapter 43, along with the very last sentence. “She is precious when she blushes,” Mrs. Preston added. “I’m glad we are still on good terms then, Melissa.” I gave her my sweetest smile. “So, what is everyone up to this coming weekend?” Mrs. Walcott asked. Mrs. Preston replied, “We’re leaving tomorrow to spend the weekend with Carl’s parents.” “Will Jennifer be back in time Mrs. Thomas’s party on Sunday?” I anxiously asked. “We’ll be back late Sunday morning. My parents are coming by one day next week on their return from their vacation.” The mention of Jennifer seeing her father’s parents suddenly reminded me I had never laid eyes on my own father’s parents. I really hadn’t thought about them for some time. Mom’s parents had always been ‘my grandparents’. “Do you guys see Mr. Preston’s parents a lot?” I asked. I noticed Mom cutting her eyes at me for just a brief moment. I suddenly wondered if I had said the wrong thing. “We get to visit with them about as much as my parents. I think Jennifer and Derek rather enjoy having their grandparents almost competing with each other for their grandkids’ attention,” she said, chuckling. Mom cut her eyes at me for just a brief moment again. I then figured she was curious how I was reacting. Neither she nor Daddy had talked about my other set of grandparents. Were they some kind of outlaws or something? I didn’t even know if they were alive! The last I had seen of anyone from Daddy’s side of the family was when his brother and his wife last visited with their son when I was ten. That was the time my cousin and I had fooled around some. I couldn’t remember us ever visiting them though. Daddy’s whole side of the family was a real mystery to me. It was about time I fixed that, but now clearly wasn’t the time. But I couldn’t resist throwing out a reminder to Mom about my absent set of grandparents. “It’s cool Jennifer has all those grandparents.” Mrs. Walcott glanced uncomfortably at Mom. “From what I hear,” Mrs. Preston said, “your grandparents just adore you. I think you’re just as lucky as Jennifer.” “You’re very lucky, Mel,” Mom concurred. “Both your grandparents think you’re God’s special gift to them. I think they would both jump over the moon for you.” I blushed again. I felt really rotten though for not spending any time with them this summer. I was determined to more than make up for it this coming weekend. Mrs. Walcott then blurted out, “Tell Andrea and Mel about the time Carl was early to a visit with his parents a few years ago.” “You two are gonna love this story,” Mrs. Preston began. “Carl had been at one of the offices for the business he works at for several days. The drive took him through the town he is originally from. His parents still live there. The morning of the day he was to leave, he called his mother and talked with her. He discovered his father had left with a friend to go fishing over the weekend. He offered to stop by around three that afternoon to visit with her for a few hours. “As it turned out, he was finished earlier than expected and would arrive at his parents a few hours earlier. He decided to just surprise her and take her out to eat if she hadn’t had lunch already. When he arrived, no one was home, but his mother’s car was in the driveway. He was sure she likely was visiting with her neighbor next door. They had been good friends for many years. “Having been over at the house practically every day as a kid, he was used to going to the backdoor and knocking. Their family room was at the back of the house, and was where he expected they would be. When he reached the door, he glanced into the room through the door’s window. The curtain covering the window did little to block the view of the whole family room. “What he saw stunned him. Inside he saw his mother and her friend naked on the couch. He didn’t have to worry about their noticing him as their faces were buried in each other’s pussy.” “Oh wow!” I exclaimed. “My thoughts exactly,” Mom said, grinning at me. “From what Carl told me, neither lady showed any hesitation with what they were doing. They changed positions a few times. His mother sat on his neighbor’s face and wiggled her hips as her friend at her pussy. They alternated that position, but his mom’s friend also used one of several vibrators and dildoes lying around to fuck her with it while his mom went to town licking her.” I asked, “Your husband didn’t get caught watching all that going on?” “He was careful. So he left and drove to a coffee shop to kill some time before he went back at about the time he would be expected. His mother was home when he returned, and looked just like she normally did during the day. When he hugged and kissed her, he didn’t detect any scents of his neighbor’s pussy either. So, anytime we go to his parents’ house, we make a joke about knowing where to find his mother if she isn’t home.” Mom then mentioned, “I’m taking Mel to my parents Saturday and coming back Sunday.” She quickly looked at me, and added, “In plenty of time for the party.” I smiled. “I bet you’ll miss Peter,” Mrs. Walcott said. “But at least you’ll be able to celebrate your one week anniversary tomorrow.” “Any plans with Peter for tomorrow?” Mrs. Preston asked. “We’re gonna hang out late tomorrow afternoon. We’ll probably see a movie or something.” “I’m betting on ‘or something’,” she teased. Mom then told both of them about the picture I gave Peter as his birthday present. Mom even surprised me when she retrieved a small print from her pocketbook. “When did you get that?” I asked her. “Lori Taylor dropped by yesterday afternoon and left some additional prints for you. I forgot to mention it this morning. They’re in my bedroom, so remind me when we get home.” “She didn’t charge you for them?” She shook her head. “She said they were too lovely to only have a few prints of. Andy insisted on making additional copies. Lori said Andy was very taken by how easily you posed so beautifully in such a rushed situation.” I was totally surprised. I was sure Mr. Taylor had photographed many beautiful girls and women. I was certainly flattered he and his wife would go out of their way for me like that. Peter and Pam obviously weren’t at the house yet when Mrs. Taylor was there. Peter would have told me about it. “Anna was with her. She hated that she missed you.” I was seriously thinking of calling her when I got home. I so needed to talk to that chica. I wasn’t sure if she would reveal anything to me, but I had to at least try. She was the one person my age I knew of that probably could tell me about some of the others involved with my parents. The ladies gushed over my picture for what seemed like an eternity. I didn’t mind though. Here were three grown women drooling over a picture of me ... with my clothes on even. It was a pleasant change for once. As their praises began dying down,

While I liked what was going on in the above scene, Nick and I agreed that it was just out of place - a distraction - to what I was attempting to accomplish. In a different time and place in the story, it could’ve worked well. Unlike with chapter 25, though, this scene doesn’t fit well with any of the remaining chapters, and likely would need a lot of revision to be included. So, instead of it getting buried for eternity in an obscure folder on my hard drive, I decided to share it with everyone here. I hope everyone is having a fun summer! Pookie

Hiatus for Posting Chapters for Melissa’s Secrets Until Sept 7, 2013 With school being out for the summer, and everything that goes with it, I’ve been struggling to find blocks of uninterrupted time over the past month to focus on my writing. While I love writing, it’s still a hobby. Real obligations always take priority when there is a conflict. Also, I have a vacation planned in July that will keep me from writing anything for several weeks. My editor, Nick, will be unavailable for a significant amount of time over the next two months as well. It only makes sense to slow things down for a few months. So, instead of forcing out chapters that likely would be filled with errors, I’ve decided to put posting any new chapters of Melissa’s Secrets on hiatus until September. I’ll continue writing as my time allows and get back to a regular posting schedule then. The story is reaching a number of critical points. Based on the Prologue, at a minimum sometime over the upcoming two weeks of the story, Melissa will be talked into becoming a cheerleader again by Ms. Stanton, Jennifer will become a cheerleader as well, Tammy will have her back-to-school party, and Jennifer will steal Melissa’s boyfriend. Also, I can tell you that the big secret will be uncovered by Melissa and one other person. Who is that other person though? Sarah? Jamie? They’re logical candidates since the secret affects all of them, but who knows? Maybe someone else? In the meantime, I plan to do some blogging about some things that have appeared in prior chapters. I also plan to post some things related to questions I’ve gotten through feedback. Hopefully most readers will gain a better understanding of some of the various characters. There are a lot of clues to many things within what I’ve written so far. Some are very easy to overlook. I rarely put anything into a chapter that doesn’t support a storyline occurring in the current chapter ... or future chapters. The feedback I’ve gotten regarding the chapter titles has been very interesting. A few of you have come very close to figuring out what the titles foreshadow. However, few have even attempted to guess at “Chapter 54 - Cheap Sunglasses” means. I’ll admit that there was nothing really to go on to guess anything about that one. It’s a very obscure reference. But surprisingly one person’s guess was in the ballpark. To be fair, here is a little more to go with - the “cheap sunglasses” belong to Melissa, and she is having a great time riding in a car wearing them. Of course, “Chapter 51 - The Other Box of Books - Sunday, August 6” foretells of something very important being discovered, especially with only a few more weeks left in the story for Book 1. The guesses have been pretty good about Melissa finding something in this “other box of books”, but just who’s other box of books is it referring to? First, I’d like to thank my readers for the feedback. I was able to catch up with my replies through about the time of my last blog, but now I have a 2-3 week backlog again. I will reply as soon as I can. I’ve tried to focus solely on the story over the past month, and likely will for the next week or so. Second, Chapter 41 won’t be posted today. However, it is written and is going through a final proof/edit. While that is occurring, I’ve been working on chapters 42-44. Chapter 42 is shaping up very nicely. The fleshing out of the outlines for chapters 43 & 44 is coming along well. So, my goal of getting back to a more regular posting is looking very promising. If all goes as planned this coming week, Chapter 41 will be posted by next Saturday. What’s in chapter 41? A whole lot. It is by far the longest chapter I have ever written. It is close to 30,000 words (or 155k in size). Of course, size isn’t everything. It’s what you do with it that is important. So what is in it? Lots of secrets and revelations, lots of sex (wooohooo!), an afternoon with Doris ... and a friend, church night, and a night at the Thomases full of new and fun things for Melissa to discover and learn about. Also, whose hand is that between Mel’s thighs while eating supper? What goes on upstairs in the Thomases house? You got it - Melissa finds out ... in a big way. The chapter is quite an adventure for Mel. But there are interesting talks as well about Mel’s parents, the Clarks, and others. Melissa learns a little more about Pastor Thomas’s past. Chapter 40 of “Melissa’s Secrets” is posted. This chapter focuses a great deal on Melissa, Sarah and their moms. The long awaited discussion between the four of them about all the things the moms have been doing happens in a big way. No stone is left unturned by the girls, and they get practically all of the answers they were looking for. Some of them are quite stunning to all of them. Melissa will learn some things from Sarah they hadn’t discussed yet. It is in many ways a “come to Jesus” discussion. Along with the discussion at the Clarks, this chapter continues to follow the ever evolving relationship between Melissa and her mother, leading to more interesting moments between them. Thanks again to my editor, Nick. This chapter was a lot of work for him because of huge number of revelations. Everything that was discussed at the Clarks had to be cross-checked with prior chapters, as well as planned ones in some cases. As usual, he caught everything I don’t. Chapter 37 of “Melissa’s Secrets” will be posted Saturday, September 29. This chapter focuses a great deal on Jennifer, Sarah, and Melissa. Of course, Melissa’s mom is also an important player in most everything right now. This chapter also includes Melissa’s trip to a photography studio to make the perfect portrait for Peter’s birthday. Along with everything else, this chapter continues to follow the ever evolving relationship between Melissa and her mother. Mom sets boundaries, and Melissa pushes them ... or does Mom forget where she set them? There’s some interaction between them about that very thing. I think the way they end up talking about it will be a lot of fun for the readers. Chapter 38 is actually what was going to be the last half of chapter 37. I ended up splitting it because of the length and all the time it was taking to write it. It is filled with revelations and admissions involving Jamie and Pam. It answers quite a few questions from earlier in the story, as well as giving us a better view of each one's past and how it affected Melissa’s life. I hope to have it ready by October 13, but don’t look for it until October 20. Life has a tendency of getting in the way of my writing. Chapter 39 will cover Peter’s birthday party at the Rayners house. That chapter is well on its way to being completed. Hopefully it will follow several weeks after chapter 38. For those curious, “Melissa’s Secrets” is now up to at least 51 chapters. There’s a real likelihood of it growing by several more. In recent months, I’ve found myself splitting quite a few chapters because of length. I’m guessing Book 1 could wind up being as many as 54 chapters when it’s over with. Just an update. I’ve completed a re-write of “Melissa Tells All”. I’ve changed the story from present to past tense. While the storyline is basically the same, the dialogue has changed quite significantly. Also, I’ve added additional scenes in it. I believe it is a much better story. It will read much like “Melissa’s Secrets” when re-posted. Nick is putting some final editing touches on it. I’m unsure at this time though when I’ll post it. I’m probably going to wait until I finish the re-write of “Mark Tells His Story”. That likely means it will be sometime during July or August. As for “Melissa’s Secrets”, a number of issues that my editor and I had problems with concerning chapter 32 have been resolved. I’ve also done quite a bit of writing over the past few weeks. However, the chapter has become a monster (130k), and it is still not finished. I’m seriously debating whether to break it into two chapters. What would be chapter 33 still needs a fair amount of work to complete it, but I likely can do that over the next few weeks. What would be chapter 32 needs a few light touches and a final edit. I’ll make a decision sometime over the coming week. If I do split it, I’ll likely post Chapter 32 over the next few weeks. If I don’t split it, it likely will be the end of the month when it is posted. Chapter 32 as a whole is a very pivotal chapter in the story. Breaking it down will take some care. Chapter 30 of Melissa’s Secrets has been posted. Sorry that it took a little longer than usual to finish, but that’s life. If anyone has a spare one, I could use it. I promise not to defile it too much. If you haven’t read chapter 30 yet, a few major things from prior chapters are revealed. Just who was at Melissa’s house the night she snuck home to get that music CD? Yep, Mel discovered who ... and what rooms they were in too. Also, who were all the people in the Clark’s bedroom during Melissa’s first blindfold game? You got it. She also finds that out. Unfortunately, the next chapter will also suffer the same fate as chapter 30, but should be ready to post around April 7. Some more fun things from earlier chapters will get revealed in it as well. It sounds much more intriguing than just saying “Book 2”, and there COULD be characters named Bella and Luke. Bella of course would be a part of the dark side that is out to destroy Melissa. Bella’s evil blood sucking boyfriend would turn out to be her father (Mel’s daddy is way cuter though - I’m totally Team Greg). Luke would have a cute twin sister who’s a bit of a drama queen (someone is always trying to destroy her alliance blah! blah! blah!). But she’ll have this really cool droid that can do amazing things, and has some seriously neat extras with it. You have to pay big bucks for unlimited data though. If you can’t afford the unlimited data, just put it on vibrate and enjoy! Every girl should have one. I better stop there though, before I give out too many spoilers. Anyway, Nick is helping me by looking for any continuity problems with the plot and storylines sketched out so far for Book 2. And, so far, things are looking pretty good. As I alluded to three weeks ago, during the upcoming weeks I’ll be reposting most of the earlier chapters of Book 1. Again, nothing is changing as far as the plot or storyline. The revisions will focus mainly on corrections to my sometimes really crappy grammar and some minor continuity issues that Nick has found. Chapter 29 has been posted. Many thanks to my editor, Nick, who has done a terrific job in catching mistakes and problems, and keeping me focused. I’m getting excited about writing the sequel to Melissa’s Secrets (at the moment called Book 2). The plot is still a bit up in the air, but it’s coming together. There likely will be at least several months between the two “books”. I’d like to write a short story or two that I’ve had in mind for quite some time now. During March, I’ll be reposting most of the earlier chapters. Again, nothing is changing as far as the plot or storyline. Chapter 29 will be posted on Saturday, February 25. Sorry for the delay, but with the new chapters I’ve added to the story, I’ve been slowing things down to make sure I don’t create continuity problems. My editor, Nick, has been helping me with this. While the basic plot and ending aren’t changing, there are a number of new scenes involving characters and subplots I hadn’t planned to focus on at all in this story. The story will likely be 38 chapters (not including the Epilogue) when completed. For those of you that have been asking for a sequel, I haven’t been convinced that there is a compelling story to tell in a follow-up to “Melissa’s Secrets”. I thought if anything, I’d write a prequel. I have some great ideas for that. But, after further thought and consideration, I believe I have a plot that will work quite well. It will follow two different storylines with a number of subplots and twists. I’m in the process of doing a rough outline of things. The more I outline, the more excited I’m getting about it. So, it looks like our fair heroine Melissa will have some new secrets to discover and deal with, as well as some old ones. Fairly soon I will be reposting most of the earlier chapters. Chapter 27 is now posted. I ended up splitting the chapter in half because of the size. I also want to do a little more work with a new scene I decided to add as well. As I mentioned in my prior posting, I also now have an editor. His name is Nick. He’ll be looking for things I always miss. He’s already saved me a significant amount of time. This should be one of my “cleanest” chapters ever. Nick is also putting together a wonderful and extensive timeline for the whole story. Chapter 27 is going to be delayed at least a few days. So look for it around January 23-24. The reason? It’s another huge chapter (about 16,000 words). I also now have an editor (everybody say hi to Nick!) checking it over. He’ll be looking for things I always miss. He’s also putting together a wonderful and extensive timeline for the whole story. What he’s done so far has been extremely helpful to me. He found a continuity error in Chapter 9 that EVERYBODY else has missed. It was pretty significant. It’s now fixed. I’ve also fixed a mix-up in Chapter 26 concerning Pam’s father. I referred to him as Brent, when it should’ve been Kent. Why the fuck did I pick names so similar to use? Let’s just call it a blonde moment and move on. Anyway, I hope everyone has broken all their New Year resolutions by now. If you haven’t yet, what the hell are you waiting for? Chapter 26 is posted. It ended up being over 16,000 words (or about 88k in size). I resisted breaking it up into multiple chapters. Unfortunately, it's a lot to read at one time. I've addressed a few things in this chapter that readers have been commenting to me about One of them is why I've neglected Julie so much. I hadn't intended to to make Julie a major character. I still don't intend to, but you'll better understand her now. I hinted at her personality a few chapters back (the backyard camp-out chapter ... I'm too lazy to look up which one). Chapter 27 should be posted around 1/21/12 ... give or take a day or two. A reader has been helping me by developing a detailed timeline for the story. It's official. Chapter 25 won't get posted until January 7, 2012. I just won't have the time to finish proofing it before next weekend. That sucks. BUT! I've just reposted a corrected version of Chapter 18. There was a rather significant continuity error that a dedicated reader caught when reading Chapter 24. There was a statement in Chapter 18 by Mrs. Thomas that she and Andrea had not ever been paid for sex. I'd written Chapter 18 back in August and posted it in late-September. Around the time, I was heavily focused on adding scenes back into the story (Chapters 22-29) that I'd dropped six years ago. Unfortunately, I missed this continuity problem. It's been fixed by removing the reference completely from Chapter 18. At the moment, it appears there will be a delay in posting Chapter 25. I'm still shooting for December 31, but things are getting quite busy for me this week, and next week doesn't bode well. My hubby surprised me with a special New Year's Eve present that will occupy all my time late next week. He's a sweetie like that. Hopefully, I'll have time to finish proofing Chapter 25 before then. I've added Chapter 24 today. I'm working on completing Chapter 25. It's finished except for proof reading. I'll likely post it on December 31, but it's also very possible it might get delayed a week because of the holidays. Chapters 26-27 are written, but need more cleaning up and proofing. Chapters 28-29 are still my primary focus. They're taking shape quite nicely though. Jennifer Preston will become a big player in the next few chapters. Melissa will discover that there is more to Jennifer's relationship with Peter than she ever imagined. Are they lovers? Or are they just friends? Is Jennifer hiding a few secrets too?
