Praise for an Office Worker
By Net Wolf
Sitting, sitting, Ring, Ring, Answer.
Typing, typing, Print, Print, Copy.
Filing, Sorting, Organization,
Reception and Information.
This is the life of a secretary.
A job not given much thanks.
Without them things would be much less efficient.
Take that to any number of banks.
On the go, then going slow,
Then on the go again.
Some days are easy, but those are few:
They will come, but when?
Putting up with politics
And all the boss's quirks.
The people who need a secretary
Can often be such jerks.
Still, to the end, they do the job.
They'll work until it's done.
And now and again, to brighten their day,
They'll have a little fun.
It helps them all to keep things sane
If levity's allowed.
The boss who doesn't will find himself
Facing pranks that are disavowed.
But fun aside, and kidding, too,
The job is one that must be done.
Who will thank these fine, hard workers?
You can count me in, for one.
I've tried to do this job at times,
On a temporary plan.
I found the work not quite so tame.
They've gained me as a fan.
So remember, next time you're out,
Some businessman to see,
The one who really runs the show,
Ain't him: it's his secretary.
