Other Authors

http://juicysecrets.kinky-blogging.com/

This is the site where my first mentor and editor Jetboy now shares his considerable talents with an appreciative audience. I’ve always tried to not so much emulate him as strive to earn his respect. His stories are not for everyone, but if you’re curious and open-minded, you’ll see he’s a master of making the improbable not only probable, but a  fait accompli  – and you’re sucked in, right there with this master convincing you to believe the unusual. His characters have a life that’s so rare in erotica, and they carry you right along on the ride.

I’m not as familiar with Jetboy’s partners – Cheryl Taggert and Naughtymommy -- in his web page venture. I do know Cheryl Taggert is one of the most popular authors in her genre, Woman/Girl (Fg), and what I’ve read of hers is hot. Pay these folks a visit and you’ll be entertained.

Invid Fan is my friend, mentor, critic, and webmaster. Everything you see here on this site is his doing. I just write and send it to him, and presto! it show’s up on the website. He’s earned the right to mentor and criticize my efforts because he’s an outstanding author. His stories tend to the sci-fi/alternate universe genre, which doesn’t strike my fancy as a general rule, but the exception to that rule is Invid Fan.

Aimee is a new friend, a fellow nurse from England. As will be readily apparent, she is a deliciously libidinous wench with a talent for writing about her wicked ways in decadent detail.

Writing Resources

http://dictionary.reference.com/   I do not know what I’d do without Dictionary/Thesaurus.com. It’s easy to use, fast, and accurate. Thesaurus.com is without question the easiest and most complete web thesaurus I’ve yet come across. It easily beats the very curious Roget’s site. It’s design is… primitive, a holdover from the Age of MS-DOS. It is not user friendly. It’s based on their classic eponymous printed tome. Weird people like me don’t mind that, because we like reading the thesaurus. When I open my 2,000 page (it feels that big) hardcover Roget’s, a vortex suddenly appears and tries to suck me into its magical world. New writers should avoid the Roget’s site.

http://www.grammar-monster.com/  This is a cute little site I use as my go-to whenever I have a grammar conundrum, which is actually very common. I love words. I should have paid more attentionin Ms. May’s American Lit class.

http://www.hemingwayapp.com/  Oh!My!God! What an awesome little program! I have fallen in love with it. Hemingway’s writing style was terse, spare, and to the point. The best writing is crisp and clear. Copy and paste any text into this cool little program’s editor box, and  voila ! It’s scanned your writing for all sorts of stylistic no-nos. It highlights hard to read text, flags adverbs, highlights passive verbs. It’s helping break me of my adverb habit, and my mission to scour out as many passive phrases as possible.

I just ran the above paragraph through the Hemingway lens and it came back clean. No hard to read sentences, adverbs, or passive phrases – it was, however rated at Grade 6 level; I don’t know the significance of that. I do know it’s a cool way to sharpen your writing.

Stuff – Eclectic mix of stuff that interests me

Causes --  http://www.stopbullying.gov/kids/   and  https://tackk.com/fiveantibullyingactivities  It’s no surprise to regular readers of Karen and Laci that I have a thing about bullying. I wasn’t a bully-target in middle and high school. I hid my secret deep inside and tried my best to be just like everyone else. Curiously, it wasn’t until I was an adult that I became the target of bullies. I’m a big girl, I can deal with small-minded gnomes myself, but a desperate 13 year old girl isn’t equipped to handle assaults. These links are great resources.

http://community.pflag.org/Page.aspx?pid=194&srcid=-2  There is no better site on the web for anyone who has a child in their world who is struggling to come to grips with his or her sexual or gender identities. Where was this when I was 16?
