Three months after Shee Na and I were married I received a formal message from her Sho Han requesting a meeting with me , at my convenience, with the primary leaders of the Province. The governor said: "We are here as envoys of the Qing Ceser, the great and good exalted majesty of our land to bestow on you by his decree, in recognition of your good works and compassionate beneficence, which has been made known to his Majesty, the title of Magister. This gives you freedoms of special rights which are listed in this document."

He passed the decree to me and his deputy stepped forward and gave him a gold emblem of the title which he pinned on my lapel.I bowed to the Governor and said: "It is to my delight to be honoured thus. I thank his Majesty and you the good gentlemen of the council for this great honour."

As the meeting was a formal we did not stand around with chit-chat and after a short formal ceremony of tea the gentlemen of the council departed.

Sho Han and Xing Bo smiled and replied, "Dear Son and honoured guest we give our consent and now I shall summon Li An and Po Lin and see what they think." and he winked at me.

He clapped his hands and his two lovely 12 year old and 13 year old daughters came in, their eyes cast down and looking nervous.

"Daughters our son and good friend Magister has asked us for your hands in marriage I have consented. Now do you both wish to be married to him and share Shee Na and his life."

Li An spoke first, "I agree Papa".

Then Po Lin, "I also wish it Papa".

We all laughed with joy and Sho Han and Xing Bo said that they would leave us alone for a few moments to discuss things.
