Air Force security teams in olive-drab fatigues raced towards the cavernous Gateroom. General Hammond entered the Command Center from his office. "Report!" he barked. Sergeant Harriman glanced up quickly from his console, "The Gate has been activated, sir. No incoming signal though." Hammond eyed the closed iris, the wormhole's shimmer surrounding it like a corona. Unless a recognition code was received, the iris would remain closed and whoever was coming through would be pancaked against it. "Sir! It's SG-1! I just received the signal!" "Open the iris!" Just as the iris opened with a metallic groan, SG-1 came through. Jack O'Neill was holding Samantha Carter upright. Daniel Jackson and Teal'c both stood to the side, concern evident on Jackson's face. "Sorry about the signal, Sir!" O'Neill shouted up to the Command Center. "Guess I kinda forgot!" O'Neill attempted to shrug but Sam's arm over his shoulder hampered the motion. "Medical Team to the Gateroom. Doctor Fraiser, you're needed up here," Hammond said into microphone. After getting a reply from the Med Center, Hammond headed down to the Gateroom. "Major Carter?" he asked as he reached the foot of the ramp. Looking at O'Neill, he said, "Report, Colonel." "Well sir, things were going okay. The Geisellans were great! They fixed this big feast. We're talking big, General! Food, booze, wom... Anyway, one of the dishes used a particular type of egg, I found out later." O'Neill stopped when Janet Fraiser charged into the room, leading her people. "Sam!" she yelled. Looking at O'Neill, she asked, "What happened?" "I'll be awrigh', lemme go," Sam pushed upright away from her CO. Swaying for a moment, she turned very pale and leaned back against O'Neill, emptying her stomach onto the platform and the colonel's combat boots. "Aw, Carter!" O'Neill groaned. "Jeez!" "Sam, hold on. We'll get you taken care of," Janet said as she took Sam's shoulders and propelled her out of the suddenly reeking Gateroom towards the infirmary. "Colonel, my office," Hammond said sharply. "And someone, get that cleaned up." The rest of SG-1 followed Hammond out of the Gateroom and up to his office. * * * * * * "He-ey, how're you feeling?" Sam squinted at the bright overhead lights, "Where am I? What happened?" She realized as soon as she asked that she was in one of the smaller rooms off the main Med Center. "Before you puked on Colonel O'Neill's boots?" Sam winced as Janet continued, "I have no idea. Yet. Afterwards, we got you down here, with only a few spots the HazMat teams are cleaning up, and got you mildly sedated so you could rest. You've been out for about six hours now." "HazMat?" Sam asked in alarm. "Just a joke, Sam. Don't worry about it," Janet said, calming her favorite patient. "How's your stomach?" "Feels wonderful," Sam said sarcastically. "Well, it doesn't appear to be anything worse than an allergic reaction." Seeing Sam's questioning look, Janet sat next to her on the bed. "Seems you ate something that didn't agree with you..." "Those damned green eggs!" "Excuse me? Green eggs?" Janet sidled closer to Sam. She had heard about the eggs already from the other members of Sam's team. They were all fine but apparently Sam started getting woozy before she could finish even one of the 'eggs' they were served. "Yeah, some kind of delicacy there. They're not really eggs but little jade-colored nuts that look like dyed hardboiled eggs. The 'yolk' was an emerald green. They were delicious but..." After lowering the sheet to Sam's waist and pulling the hospital gown up, Janet gently felt Sam's exposed stomach, applying slight pressure. "Okay. How's that feel?" Her hand started to move in a circular manner on Sam's warm flesh. "Hmm...better." Janet's touch always made her feel better. And this was so soothing. "Were you here all night?" Sam asked. Janet didn't respond but watched her hand rubbing in gentle circles on Sam's flat stomach. "You did! Oh Janet, that's so sweet. But what about Cass?" "She's camping, remember?" Janet replied. Sam placed her hand on Janet's briefly and said, "Thank you." Janet smiled lovingly at Sam, "You didn't honestly think I could go home, did you?" Sam smiled and her hand returned to her side. Janet resumed the soft, tender massage. "So, tell me about these 'eggs' you ate. Did the colonel and the rest of the team eat them too?" Sam nodded, confirming what Janet already knew. "Must've been an allergic reaction then," Janet said casually. Her eyes bored into Sam's though, the look making Sam's heart beat faster. "But, wh...whuuhy didn't Daniel get...ss--ick?" Sam finally asked. The love and the compassion she saw in Janet's eyes was very distracting. "Not everyone is allergic to the same things. Daniel and I happen to have some similar reactions to more common allergies and take similar antihistemines. Some allergic reactions are different and not always recognized as such. Follow me?" Janet smiled. "Anywhere," Sam whispered. Grinning broadly, Janet continued, "So, some people can break out in hives, some get hay fever symptoms, some have internal reactions. Sometimes it can just be an inflammation of the mucus tissues. You happened to get a tender tummy..." "It feels a lot better now," Sam said. She was hoping Janet could see how she felt about the beautiful brunette. "When I was little, my mother used to rub my stomach when I was feeling sick," Janet said. "Sometimes, that little TLC can make all the difference..." Sam glanced over Janet's shoulder, seeing the security camera was pointed away from the bed and seemed to be stuck there. She whispered, "I love you." Janet smiled again, and glanced around quickly to make sure the room was still empty. She leaned over and kissed Sam, saying into the blonde's mouth, "I love you too." Janet stood and said, "Okay, you seem to be feeling better. Stay here until the end of the shift and then I'll take you home. Okay?" She stood in the doorway, haloes by the brighter light in the outer ward. "More than okay." Sam said. "Alright then, see you in a bit, Sam-I-Am," Janet teased. "Hey!" Sam yelled at the empty doorway. 'I guess, I will eat green eggs and ham,' the blonde mused. 'That is, if this is the kind of care I get...' She was already looking forward the house call. (c) John O'ConnerComments May Be Mailed Here
