Samantha Carter flicked the switch and the naqadah
reactor began to hum. She smiled as she thought she
had finally solved the overload problem. She turned to
grab her lab book and jot down additional notes to be
transcribed into her computer later.
As Sam turned her back, the humming sound moved up a
notch. And another.
'Uh-oh!' the astrophysicist thought. 'This is
definitely not good...' Reaching for the switch to
shut off the small reactor, Sam felt a small shock zap
her.
"Ow! Damn it!" Sam shook her slightly numb hand before
reaching for the device again. Without encountering
any additional shock, she pinched the switch between
her thumb and forefinger as the machine rachetted up
another notch.
The reactor jumped on the table and a wave of energy
rushed out of it in a perfect circle. Sam felt a
distinct tingle in her chest as the energy front
touched her. Jumping as the wave washed through her,
Sam felt her nipples hardening.
The wave quickly passed through the walls and out
through the SGC. Immediately alarms sounded in the lab
and the corridor.
"Oh God, I'm gonna get it," Sam moaned. Worrying about
General Hammond's reaction, she wasn't prepared for
the sight that appeared in her doorway.
"Damn it, Sam! What the hell did you do?" Janet
Fraiser demanded.
"Uh, Janet?" Sam said as she tried to control her
laughter. Janet stood there with her auburn hair
sticking out from her skull in all directions.
"Sam, I just had my hair done! Now, look! It's like
Phyllis Diller's worst nightmare!" Janet advanced on
Sam in righteous anger while the taller woman finally
let her laughter burst out. "It's not funny!" Janet
yelled as she stomped her foot, her fists planted on
her hips.
"Well, Janet, just say you wanted to try something
different..."
"SOMETHING DIFFERENT?" Janet screamed. "Are you
completely crazy? My hair..."
"Well, maybe," Sam had to pause as a fresh wave of
chuckles leaped out of her throat. "Why not just
disappear into your office for the day...?"
"I'm the CMO, I can't disappear! And before you
suggest it, I can't just go home either. What do I
tell Hammond? Bad hair day?"
"MAJOR CARTER!" the PA announced.
"Uh-oh," Sam moaned as the laughter quickly died.
"Sam, we're not done here!" Janet yelled as Sam beat a
hasty retreat out of her lab.
"Janet, hon, later. My CO calls."
Quivering with rage, Janet stood in the middle of
Sam's lab trying to reign in her anger. Seeing herself
in a highly reflective console face, she had to
struggle not to laugh. No, she wasn't going to laugh,
she was too damned mad!
And aroused. Whatever that wave was, Janet was
definitely feeling aroused. Now Sam was really in for
it when she got home.
With that thought, Janet headed back to the Med Center
to try and salvage her hair. Laughter, slightly tinged
with malicious glee, trailed her down the hall.
