Survey: Copy Survey

Here's the background for the survey--please read it carefully before answering the survey questions:

Let's say we have the technology to make copies of material objects in such a way that objects could be scanned, stored digitally, and as many copies reconstructed as desired.

And let's say that the scanner device looks like a small refrigerator. You can put any object (such as a VCR, book, or bag of corn chips) into the scanner and it will write a file onto a CD-R defining the object.

And Let's say that you can read that CD into a reconstuctor device that also looks like a small refrigerator (maybe it's a multi-function unit) that will rebuild a copy of the scanned object from the CD.

And let's say that these devices are reasonably affordable or easily accessible (you can go down to Kinko's or Office Max and use one for a fee of say $20.00).

And let's say that, at first, people use the technology to make backup copies of entire CD and DVD collections.

And let's say that people soon begin to scan collectibles, antiques, CD and DVD and VHS collections, paperback book collections, even pets (kittens, puppies, etc.), and upload copies to Kazaa, Napster, ShareBear, Download.com, for people to freely download and make copies.

And let's say that, in time, it becomes fashionable for people to scan themselves, and upload copies of themselves to the net. You can log on to Napster and download a hot girl or a cute guy and get an instant girlfriend or boyfriend out of the scanner.

    Yet, you also know that your own life won't be affected by what happens to copies of you that other people download. Some of your copies might live terrible lives or be treated horribly, but you'll never know what happens to your copies or what peope do with your copies.

    Condidering this, would you upload a copy of yourself so that strangers could make copies of you?
