Author's Note: If you haven't heard the song before, there are 2 versions. The regular one is considered rock. The second is an acoustic version which I feel is more in tune with the story.

With a sigh I sit listening to the radio at the diner. "Times like these" by the Foo Fighters is what the DJ called it. I call it a bad memory. The last time I heard this song it was playing on the car stereo of the guy who was driving off with the girl I had a crush on.

I
I'm a one way motorway
I'm a road that drives away and follows you back home

*Only she drove away with someone else*

I
I'm a streetlight shining
I am a white light blinding bright, burning off and on

*I am not even going to interpret that lyric*

its times like these you learn to live again

*Since she called me I guess it is, no more just living day to day...*

its times like these you learn to give and give again

*The last time I gave, it was my heart and it was broken when it was returned*

its times like these you learn to love again

*Hmm... It just might be,* he thinks as he looks down at the paper with an address and a time on it.

it's times like these time and time again

He looks at the clock and stands heading down the street to the restaurant where he is to meet the girl who broke his heart.

I
Im a new day rising
Im a brand new sky to hang the stars upon tonight
But I
Im a little divided
Do I stay or run and leave it all behind

With a kiss and a hug she greets him with a smile, he smiles back and holds out a chair for her to sit back down. *I think I will stay...*
