I'd been pretty unhappy with my marriage, unlike my wife; I seemed to be getting the rules shoved in my face and I lacked the ego needed to press back.
I heard about a new reality TV show being planned that would help people like me, meant to "shake up" people that got signed into it. There was no way to view any samples but I used the website to sign up my wife for "the treatment".
I had to fill out a bunch of questionnaires and was given a bunch of seemingly innocuous questions to ask her. This last took time to work through their list and put into the answer form.
The Studio made me aware that there were some serious shrinks on the staff to work through the various issues. I did meet with them occasionally and the free association and Rorschach tests they ran on me seemed misplaced. Being told that this was needed to understand the effects my wife had on me seemed reasonable...
Given that we did have legal power of attorney for each other, I was able to sign her release. What this really did was protect the Studio from lawsuit. This did not protect me from my wife suing me, of course. Since I was going to have to deal with being taped for the show I had a release to sign as well.
Hey, if it worked, it'd work. I was hoping to see her face when the call came. I was also hoping that she'd be shocked into valuing my own contributions.
OK, OK, I also wanted her to find me sexually desirable too.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... I'm male, get over it.
As indicated by the studio, I scheduled our vacation for the same week my spouse would face the cameras of " The Wakeup Call " as per the studio's request. That Friday night we went out to a restaurant the studio was working with. I still don't remember leaving the restaurant.
Looking back, they must have drugged us.
And, for me, it seemed, that's when all hell broke loose.
