Hmmm. Two reviews in one day. Happens.

The missives below are merely opinions, publicly stated, but only
opinions. Dragons may be immortal, but they are not infallible. Read the
stories for yourself, and form your own opinions. Then, let the author
know what you thought. Celeste's blowjob principle isn't smoke in the
wind.

Thanks to Denny for checking over the reviews for obvious
bungles, though ultimately any errors herein are mine and mine
alone.

Lady and the Ladder -- Stasya/Souvie
{MF, rom)
She's a writer, he's a painter -- in some ways they are both
artists, I suppose. Charly -- Charlene -- nearly tumbles into Jack's
arms from a ladder, while painting a sign. Talk about sweeping a
girl off her feet. From there, we take off, seeing their relationship
grow and ebb, a tide of understanding for us, perhaps less so for
Charly and Jack. Doesn't matter.
I never read Souvie's original, presumably from Charly's viewpoint,
more's the pity. I may have to track it down to see if it is as good
as the sequel. Stasya does a wonderful job of bringing Jack to life,
here, as Souvie readily admits in the prelude. You'll agree.
Flawless technically. I can't even complain about a single misspelling,
or dropped comma. Sigh.
I don't like to rate stories -- it's misleading -- but I suppose it
is a holdover from guest reviewing, long ago. Take it with a grain
of salt, even when the scores are all tens. These are only my
opinions, and even Dragons aren't infallible.

Betsy's Finest Hour -- Alexis Siefert
(MF)

Betsy doesn't live the finest of lives, even if she lives the
finest of hours. Shooting off one's mouth in the bad part of town
can get a girl in trouble -- bad trouble. This isn't the happiest
of tales, gritty and real, but it reaches out and touches, making us
think, and care. What more can we truly ask? This is a tale of courage,
quiet heroism, interspersed with wonderful humour.
Truly, worth reading.
Only one other comment,
Alexis, Alexis:
[... if for no
other reason than he just bought me some time to teach my lungs
to breath again ...]
Breathe, Alexis. Breathe. Wonderful line, despite that missed 'e',
though.
There were a couple of other very minor issues that Alexis missed,
probably typos, but nothing to detract from the story. The technical
'9' below, as everyone should be aware, still reflects a far, far
better technical aspect than most stories floating around.
