All reviews by Bobby Watson
This page reviews books, videos, and toys directly related to spanking/corporal punishment (CP). Descriptions of the action and background are included whenever possible. All reference material that is available is included with the review. Please don't ask Bobby for more details on how to acquire copies of these items, since there is no more information available, at least from Bobby. (And no, Bobby cannot provide copies of anything mentioned herein.) These do not represent reviews of all the CP items that Bobby owns. More will be added as Bobby gets time to write them up.
All reviews include a rating based on how much Bobby likes
the scene in question. The scores range from 1 to 6 strokes:
6 of the best - A must have for any true spankophile who
appreciates the type of scene being described.
5 strokes - Worth going to some effort to acquire.
4 strokes - Good. Get it if you can.
3 strokes - Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
2 strokes - Try it, but only if you're really bored.
1 stroke - Pathetic. Don't even bother.
The Corporal Punishment of Schoolgirls by Margaret Stone
(1995 - Wildfire Club) CT Rating: 6 of the best
This documentary survey seeks to dispel the widely held notion
that only boys experience corporal punishment. The book covers
domestic and scholastic CP in Britain and the U.S.A. Although
pro-CP, the book does cover the problems associated with excessive
use (in a given instance or over time) of corporal correction.
Current attempts to reinstitute judicial CP in many areas of the
world are also mentioned. (Hardcover - in print)
A Guide To The Correction of Young Gentlemen by A Lady
(1994 - Delectus Books) CT Rating: 6 of the best
Allegedly written by Alice Kerr-Sutherland in 1924, this book was
finally published 70 years later. Lucky us! This book tells the tale
of the millenia-old contest of wills between the triple-aspect Goddess
(Maiden, Mother, and Crone) and the Eternal Boy (who can be of any
chonological age). This is hardly a fair fight, since the Goddess (in
her guise of nursemaid, mother, aunt, stepmother, governess, or matron)
comes armed with formidible weapons such as the hairbrush, strap, cane,
and birch. The Eternal Boy (or young gentlemen as he is referred to in
the text) faces this array of pain-dealing implements armed only with
his courage and honour. About the best a young gentleman can hope for
is to take his chastisement "like a man." Despite the futility of the
young gentlemen's resistance, this conflict makes a cracking good read.

An Illustrated History of The Rod by William M. Cooper
(1988 - Wordsworth) CT Rating: 5 strokes
This huge (500+ page) volume covers the history of CP in all its forms
as practiced worldwide in the home, school, prison, and military.
Includes 20 B&W plates of historic illustrations. (Hardcover - in print)
Exit to Eden by Anne Rice
(1985 - Dell) CT Rating: 6 of the best
A brilliant S&M novel by one of the leading writers of the late
20th century. Elliot Slater, a successful photojournalist, has
sold himself into slavery for a period of two years. Why? Because
being a slave is his lifelong dream. Anne Rice's husband claims
that she really isn't "into" S&M. Given how well she hits most of
the hot buttons, that simply can't be true. If you were disappointed
by the mediocre movie made from this book, do yourself a real favor
and read the original story. You won't regret it. (Paperback - in print.)
"Frank" and I by Anonymous
(1968 - Grove Press) CT Rating: 6 of the best
An English gentleman of leisure takes in a runaway lad, deciding
to raise him as his own. Of course the young fellow gets into
mischief, and is caned for his trouble. During one particular
pants-down flogging the "boy" twists around in "his" agony and the
gentleman suddenly realises that "Frank", his young ward, is really
a girl! Eventually young Francis becomes his companion and lover,
although she is still thrashed when she needs it, which is often.
(Paperback - in print) This one was made into a reasonably good
movie a few years back. Bobby does not possess a copy, so he cannot
review the movie.
Harriet Marwood, Governess by Anonymous
(1986 - Grove Press) CT Rating: 6 of the best
Richard Lovel is a quiet, shy 14-year-old who just lost his mother.
His father, a man of business who is rarely at home, engages the
services of a governess to run his household and raise his son.
Harriet Marwood takes over these duties, and puts young Richard
through incredible alternating stages of pain, humilation, and
pleasure. This book is especially notable for the psychological
aspects of Miss Marwood's domination of her young charge.
(Paperback - in print)
The Prussian Girls by P.N. Dedaux
(1987 - Blue Moon) CT Rating: 6 of the best
This is Bobby's favorite novel from the CP genre. The date is 1729 and
the place is Schloss Rutenberg, the strictest girl's boarding school in
Brandenburg. The faculty rules over their charges with the cane, birch,
and whip. (Paperback - in print)
The Romance of Lust by Anonymous
(1968 - Grove Press) CT Rating: 6 of the best
The first person account of 15-year-old Charlie Roberts, who manages to
get himself indoctrinated into the mysteries of love - by several different
older women, starting with his governess. Charlie is a Victorian schoolboy,
so the book includes many wonderful birching scenes. There is also plenty
of homosexual play with his schoolchums, not to mention one of the masters.
(Paperback - in print)
School for Scandal by Anonymous
(1985 - Grove Press) CT Rating: 6 of the best
Another of Bobby's favorites, this one from the Grove Press Victorian
Library. Reputed to be the memoirs of Lord Fredrick Cyr, they focus on
the activities occurring in his lordship's stately country mansion and
the nearby reformatory for young women. The young "scrubbers" sentenced
to the reformatory must submit to regular, harsh discipline, not to
mention any lustful advance made by the local magistrates who run the
place. (Paperback - in print)
Starhip Troopers by Robert Heinlein
(1959 - Ace) CT Rating: 6 of the best
Robert Heinlein was one of the original grandmasters of science fiction.
A tale of interstellar war pitting the human race against insectoid aliens,
this story features real heroes, volunteers who value the survival of their
society ahead of their own safety. This is a story of courage, loyalty,
and personal honor. Despite his outlandish imaginings, Heinlein was also
one of the most sensible men to live and write in the twentieth century.
In this future world, corporal punishment is a standard punishment in
the home, in schools, and in the military. The hero of this book recalls
his high school class in History and Moral Philosophy, which discussed,
among many other things, the societal breakdown that lead to the destruction
of the "North American Republic" at the end of the twentieth century.
Heinlein offers vivid descriptions of the current social situation, such as
heavily armed gangs of juveniles making city streets and parks unsafe at
night, and even in daylight. The astounding thing is that Heinlein wrote
these descriptions in the late 1950s, in the days of Ozzie and Harriett. Actual
corporal punishment scenes are limited to a couple of military floggings
in boot camp, but Chapter 8 features the most lucid explanation of the
necessity of corporal punishment in the successful rearing of children
(and puppies) that has ever been offered. This is, quite simply, a masterpiece
written by one of the leading writers of the twentieth century. (Heinlein's
other masterworks include Stranger In A Strange Land and The Moon
Is A Harsh Mistress.)
Tomboy: Revelations of a Girl's Reformatory by Anonymous
(1986 - Grove Press) CT Rating: 6 of the best
A sequel to School for Scandal, this volume deals with the same
setting and characters, seen this time through the eyes of a young man
hired as the new under-master of the reformatory. (Paperback - in print)
Venus School Mistress by Anonymous
(1987 - Blue Moon) CT Rating: 6 of the best
Another wonderful volume from the Blue Moon collection. This anthology
includes several short stories featuring naughty girls and boys getting
their well-deserved punishments at school. There is also a section on
"The Philosphy of Modern Flagellation" which contains a piece called
"The Physiognomy of the Human Backside." (Paperback - in print)
The B-Stik
CT Rating: 1 stroke
This item is advertised as "an alternative to conventional discipline
methods that is designed for and intended for parents who want a safer
way to apply physical discipline." It is supposed to provide a stinging
sensation when applied to the skin of a miscreant without leaving any of
the marks caused by standard instruments of punishment. Basically, it is
intended to be used by parents who want to avoid getting into trouble with
the Politically Correct thought police. An interesting idea, but a bad
implementation. This thing is basically a "Nerf baton", and wouldn't
cause a useful amount of pain, when used as directed, in any human over
toddler age (and children that young shouldn't be being hit with anything
other than an open hand anyway). This item is essentially useless and
completely overpriced at $30. You can check it out at this website:

Rattan Canes from The Wildfire Club
CT Rating: 6 of the best
These are real rattan canes from The Wildfire Club in England.
They are quite flexible, make that wonderfully unique sound as
they cut the air, and leave the traditional "tram line" weals
on a miscreant's bottom (well, at least most of the time -
different bottoms mark differently). They are also rather pricey,
although true cane afficionados will find them well worth the cost.
It should be noted that these canes are made from natural pieces of
rattan, and each cane will be unique. Some of them aren't all that
strong. I've purchased nine canes from Wildfire over the years, and
one of them began self-destructing the very first time I swished it
through the air. I kept trying to work with the shorter lengths, but
that cane is now in four pieces which are suitable only for use as
cat toys. The other eight canes are still intact, but it must be
remembered that canes do break!
Most of these videos are X rated. That means they have no appreciable plot and that the acting, sound, and cinematography are uniformly horrible. It is a crying shame that real scene players can't be obtained to perform in these flicks. At least then the CP segments wouldn't look so obviously faked (or diminished).
The Best of British Spanking #7
(Bizarre Video) CT Rating: 2 strokes
One of the most misnamed video series in history. The acting is
fairly miserable - especially when it comes to concealing the fact that
every whack is being laid on very gently.
The Fraternity Part I - Big Brothers
(Man's Hand Films) CT Rating: 4 strokes
The new fraternity pledge class gets to meet their "big brothers." Most
of this introduction is spent over the knees of the big brothers, getting
their butts warmed real good. The pledges are also taught "the position",
and the old "Thank you, sir. May I have another?" drill.
The Fraternity Part II - The Initiation
(Man's Hand Films) CT Rating: 4 strokes
The now-indoctrinated pledges are put through their paces, which
mostly consists of getting paddled for little or no reason. Not
much of the film is devoted to actual initiation rituals, but the
spankings/paddlings are realistic. Man's Hand Films suffer from
occasional lapses in production values (though less than most
other spanking video companies), but the acting is fairly good.
Woodshed I - Fraternity Ritual
(Brick House Entertainment) CT Rating: 4 strokes
Another set of pledges gets their buns toasted by paddle,
hand, and strap. The acting isn't too terrible, although one
of the pledges just can't stop smirking...even after being
paddled for that specific offense. The actual spankings are
realistic, if a bit underpowered.
