This is sort of a companion piece to go along with LeAnna's "Ten," which I
reviewed in CR 286. Nick and LeAnna are sitting together in some sort of a
park, admiring the scenery. The scenery consists of nubile women, upon whom
the venturesome aficionados have been conferring ratings on a scale of 1-10,
in addition to generating oral reviews of the most noteworthy characteristics
of these invariably buxom young ladies.

It's obviously improper to treat people like objects in this way, but I have
to admit that I myself do this too. Occasionally I work out in a fitness
center, and the routine there can become boring. To boost my spirits, I keep
an internal record of alpha, beta, and gamma males and females. I visually
sweep the room from left to right. The first guy that looks reasonably decent
becomes my alpha male. He stays in that position until I come upon a better
specimen, whereupon the alpha male drops to beta position. And so forth. I
take into consideration not only obvious physical characteristics, but also
their personalities and friskiness in the sack. Since I {usually} have no
direct experience of either of these factors, I give free rein to my
fantasies. On alternate days (or when there are not enough men to establish a
hierarchy) I do females instead. Sometimes I even have an alpha couple. This
may sound silly, but it sure makes the time pass quickly. It sure beats
reciting Shakespeare to myself on those days when I forget my rosary beeds!

Anyway, these two people do it more actively and overtly than I do. They even
become part of the scenery. Omigod - maybe I'm someone else's alpha
female....
