STUCKHAMPTON COLLEGE SCHOOL RULES (Addenda)
Developments over the past few months have led to a number of changes being recommended to the Board by the Student Committee. The Board has given these recommendations due consideration, and while it regrets that it cannot sanction many of the proposed rule changes, it has agreed to the following modifications to existing rules.
Dress Code Changes
1. On account of the general unpopularity of the gym knickers, ordinary panties (not thongs) may now be worn instead of gym knickers for all athletics events and gymnastic activities.
2. It has been observed that there is a considerable disparity between the lengths of school skirts. This is particularly evident in school photos and at events when large numbers of students are gathered together. Since most students favour shorter skirts, it has been agreed that the maximum skirt length should be reduced. All skirts (whether everyday, for gym or for games) must now have hemlines no lower than one inch below the buttocks.
3. Since skirts are now almost guaranteed to reveal the crotch on occasion, tights are no longer a permissible part of the uniform.
4. For the same reason, hemlines of crotch-height or above may now be worn for events with other schools.
5. Also for the same reason, all panties and thongs must now be white and non-sheer. Note that thongs may not be worn instead of gym knickers for sporting events.
6. We regret that we cannot agree to the students' request that bras should be optional for all occasions. The Board feels very strongly that a student's nipples should remain concealed while she is outside her boarding house. This is especially true for sporting events with other schools, during which short cut-off tops often expose the bra. However, we accept that there is a double standard in permitting uncovered sheer bras while forbidding the omission of a bra beneath a 'see-through' blouse - therefore we are willing to permit students to go without a bra while wearing such a blouse.
7. Owing to an oversight in the previous edition of the school rules, it is necessary to stress that bras are required with cut-off tops that fail to cover the nipples.
8. After careful consideration, and owing to the large amount of support for last term's petition, the board has agreed to the following relaxation of the gym/athletics dress code. For gymnastic and athletics events that do not involve other schools, tops are now optional as long as a bra is worn. It is therefore now permissible for students to perform these events in just their underwear and shoes.
Other Rule Changes
1. While a student's choice of sleeping attire is nobody's business but her own, it is unacceptable for students to turn out for fire drills in the nude. The fire regulations clearly state that a dressing gown may be donned before reporting to the muster point - this is now mandatory for students who sleep in the nude.
2. Seaton Pond is not to be used for mud wrestling. This method of resolving disputes will not be tolerated, however 'traditional' it may be.
3. Art students who make films must have their films approved by Mr Trimble before showing them to an audience. While the school strives to encourage freedom of expression, "Satan's Daughters" was inappropriate viewing material for third-formers! It is also forbidden to publish these films on the Internet, as has regrettably happened already on several occasions.
4. The Sixth Form Ball at the end of the summer term will be subject to tighter restrictions this year. The Board is reluctant to discontinue this long-standing tradition, but with seventeen pregnancies resulting from last year's ball, it will now be forbidden for boys from St Nigel's to leave the ballroom except to use the toilets. Needless to say, the toilet block will be supervised constantly while the boys are on the premises. There will be a number of new measures to prevent students having sex in the ballroom itself. These are as follows:
a) Staff will be empowered to check that students entering the ballroom are wearing panties. Any student not wearing panties will be refused admission.
b) The removal of panties inside the ballroom is forbidden, and any student caught doing so will be required to put them back on.
c) Any girl found to be sitting on a boy's lap will be required to demonstrate that she is not engaged in sex with that boy. If she remains sitting on the boy's lap, she will be required to demonstrate this repeatedly and frequently.
d) As in the past, any condoms found will be confiscated. Henceforth, however, girls as well as boys will be searched for condoms as they enter the ballroom.
e) Students are not permitted to remove their dresses in the ballroom.
f) Boys caught with their hands in girls' panties will be required to leave the room after the third such offence.
g) Discreet kissing is permitted, but prolonged French-kissing is not allowed and will be stopped by a member of staff.
h) Owing to the excessive butchering of ball gowns that occurred last year, students will not be allowed to hold a 'shortest dress' competition at this year's ball. All dresses must be long enough to cover at least part of the panties.
i) Exposure of the breasts is not permitted.
5. During lessons, it is forbidden for students in the front row of the classroom to attempt to distract the teacher by means of overtly sexual behaviour. Knees are to be kept together. Inappropriate touching of oneself or another student is not allowed in the classroom. (Incidentally, you will all no doubt be glad to hear that Mr Partridge is recovering well after his heart attack last term.)
6. Students caught 'flashing' drivers on the main road behind the lower games fields will be suspended. After the last near-fatal car crash the school has zero tolerance for this offence.
The Board regretfully must refuse the following requests by the student committee:
a) that skirts should become optional for sports other than athletics or gymnastics
b) that bras should be optional for all occasions
c) that thongs should be allowed as a substitute for gym knickers
d) that nude sunbathing should be allowed in the summer term
e) that on hot days, students should be allowed to remove blouses and skirts in the classroom
f) that panties should be optional with skirts that cover the crotch
g) that sunbathing should be permitted on the lawns in the main college during lunch break
h) that students over the age of sixteen should be allowed to smoke in their rooms
i) that students should be allowed visitations from male friends at weekends
The Board is reluctant to grant the request for a monthly fashion show, on account of the fiasco three years ago. It appreciates, however, that there are some skilled seamstresses and designers among the students, and it is prepared to schedule a heavily supervised one-off show on Saturday the 4th of May. If this goes well, then the Board will consider allowing future shows.
