All About the Author

A Strange Geek

Who are you?
I am a man in my late thirties, happily married to a wonderful woman since 1998. In real life I work a great deal with computers (hence my name), and I am into science of all varieties, and I like to read science fiction and fantasy literature. My wife and I have no children, and have decided to keep it that way (we simply feel that it is not right for us).

Why write erotica?

Why not? :)

Seriously, though ... The main reason I write erotica is because it is an outlet. It is an outlet for thoughts and feelings about sex, specifically aspects of it that are beyond what I would do in real life. Rather than attempt to banish these thoughts, or feel ashamed of them, or (even more foolishly) pretend they do not exist, I channel them creatively into the written word. This, in my view, is far healthier than any of the alternatives.

Note that this does not mean that I write about the way I think sex should be enjoyed (other than the overall belief that it is not inherently "dirty" or "bad"). Instead, my writing speculates on how others would react if placed in certain unusual sexual situations.

What do you write about?

I write pretty much whatever comes to mind.

What tends to come to mind are thoughts about sex beyond what I feel comfortable doing in real life. My thoughts tend to stray into realms such as bondage, domination, non-consensual, and (sometimes) mind control. I also like to mix in bits of the fantastic, so you will see fantasy, supernatural, and science-fiction themes.

I also like to deal with the psychology of sex. For example, when I think of domination, I don't approach it from purely the physical aspect. I feel that domination is 90% mental and only 10% physical.

At the same time, I will write about romance if I am suitably inspired, though I tend to write about the passionate side of it more than the lead-up.

Is there anything you won't write about?

Yes, there are a few things:

  • Pedophilia

I just don't feel comfortable with this, and it doesn't excite me in the least, so I don't write about it. At the same time, I do not adhere to a strict age rule in my stories. If a character is only 12, but sexually mature, I do not consider that pedophilia. However, I will adhere to the story code standard and code the story appropriately.

  • Anal sex

I don't feel excited by this at all. It doesn't disturb me, it just doesn't interest me in the least.

  • Rape

Rape is not sex, it is simply violence. Note that rape is defined as brutality here. I have stories with non-consensual sex, which is not the same as rape.

  • Graphically detailed bloody violence

It's a real turn-off to me for the rest of the story, even when it does not involve sex, to have scenes of graphic violence. If a scene calls for very brief violence (e.g. two characters get into a fight and one gives the other a bloody nose), I'll include it if it makes sense in the plot, but extended scenes of violence I'll never have "on-camera".

  • Anything to do with excretion

For me, there is nothing remotely erotic about this, so I do not write about it.

Does your wife write erotica?
My wife is more into pure fantasy writing, but sex works its way into all her writing at some point. My wife is a strict romanticist. All sex in her stories is romantic (she refers to it as "fluffy smut"). She posts her stories to a more exclusive audience than ASSTR, and has asked that she remain anonymous.
